How do you change the key of a CD+G and re-burn?
 

I have MicroStudio, KHP, Keyrite and Vogone. Would like to know, step by step how to take a track of a CD+G disc, change the instrumental key to -2 and re-burn back with the graphics to have a CD+G that is a -2 on the Key from the Original.

Import the track to your songlist folder as WAV in Microstudio under the "import tracks" tab. Close out Microstudio and open Keyrite.

Click select input file. Make your key change. Select your output file, and write file. Close out keyrite.

Get your lyrics set up and saved in Notepad or Wordpad.

Open KHP. Set up your Title, Lyrics and Credits pages with or without graphics. Import lyrics, import music, sweep and process. When you get it the way you want it, save as CDG. Write it to a disc in Microstudio.

There is a tricky way you can use the original graphics if you wish, and you have a good print screen program. Start the disc playing in Microstudio and as soon as the graphic has loaded hit the print screen button. You can then crop and save it and use it in KHP as the graphic for the title page, etc. It may take a couple of seconds for print screen to kick in. Mine does, but it's at the point in the graphic where I clicked on it

If you're thinking to restore the file to it's original position on the original disc, cannot be done.

George...I tried this and it works great.
 

Extracted CD+G Track with Micro Studio
Changed file extention from *.cdg to *.bin
Put the new "bin" file in a folder
Using MP3+G Toolz v2.0.9 stripped bin file to mp3 + g file (twin file names)
Used MP3 Encoder program "MP3 Wave Converter v3.0" to convert MP3 to Wave.
Imported Wave into Keyrite.
Change Key to "-2"
Then took the "-2" wave and converted it back to an MP3
Deleted the Original MP3 in the Folder and Pasted in New -2 MP3
Re-named New -2 MP3 to same exact name as Original MP3
Using MP3+G Toolz converted the New MP3 and Original G file
back to a bin file.
Re-named bin file to cdg and burned to new CD-R.
Now I have a Hard Copy of the Original CD+G, but Instrumental
is "-2" Key down.
DID NOT HAVE TO USE KARAOKE HOME PRODUCER, TYPE IN LYRICS, & RE-SINK LYRICS WITH INSTRUMENTAL.

Didn't know how to do originally, got the clues from your posting.
The above method is very fast, without having to use KHP and gives you the Original Lyrics and Graphics, but the Instrumental is in a different Key.

There are many instances, however where the plain vanilla method would be superior. Poor sweep sync, poor copies(lot of random crud on the screen), wrong lyrics, etc. all too common in the commercial cdg's would all be reasons to produce a nice, clean copy using KHP.

Keyrite will accept a .cdg file. It doesn't have to be only a .wav file. You can import the .cdg through Microstudio, then open it in Keyrite, change the key, take it back to Microstudio and write it to a new disc.

Bryan, what's the secret? All I can ever get Keyrite to pull up even going through Microstudio are.wav files, no cdg.

When you click the Keyrite Select Input File button, you see the Open File dialog box. At the bottom you will see the Files of Type: list box. Click the down arrow and select .cdg. It will then show you .cdg files instead of .wav files. QED :w
