Lyrics background is "transparent", making it hard to read lyrics
I just installed the most recent version of Hoster.
No problem. But after a while something strange happened: The "background" for most of my karaokesongs became "transparent", which means that after a page of lyrics, the next page is showed "on top" of the old page, making it very difficult to read the lyrics after a while. It even happens for the title page. This did not happen with my old version of Hoster, nor did it happen right after I installed the new version. So I hope, that I just changed a setting somewhere, but I have really been searching around and read the manual, and can't find a way to get things to work. I even uninstalled, and reinstalled Hoster, checking "clear all saved settings", it did not help me either. I hope there is a real easy solution to this - and that someone can help me :-) Best regards, Martin, Denmark (I am running Win7 64 Home Premium in Bootcamp on my Macbook Pro). I do not have Hoster installed on any other machine. |

Thank you for your reply.
Is this something you KNOW, or is it just a kind suggestion. My MacBook Pro is quite new (mid 2012) and as I wrote, it DID work right after I installed the program. |

I'm not familiar with the MacBook or using Bootcamp which I presume you are using to run windows.
There was one thing changed in 5.09 and 5.10 in the Tools menu/options there was a tick box added for use the MTU Hoster power scheme, whether this could have any bearing on your problem, perhaps it messes with something on a Mac. Check your power settings are running at maximum. |

Another setting that was introduced in 5.09 /10 may be worth looking at, Tools Menu/Audio controls, at the bottom of this dialog is a drop down that will either show Audio or Display with another dropdown next to it to alter the priority to between highest to lowest. Again this is just a shot in the dark but as it was new to these versions may have an effect.
Try altering display setting higher or lower, |

Thank you very much for all your quick responses.
I found the problem! Beavis -> You were actually close to the bone, mentioning the videocard. When I The lyrics window is displayed in the Macbook's own screen everything is perfect. However, if the lyrics window is moved to my 27" thunderbolt display the problem with "transparent" background occurs. I don't know why this happens and I don't know how to solve it, but it's really not important, as I am not going to bring the External display with me at performances. About the Windows issues: I did a clean win-installation about a week ago, so it's "brand new". I didn't really change any settings in Windows, which means the Windows downloads and installs updates automatically. (which is about 72 updates or so every second day :-) ). Is this a problem? I recall that a few years ago you had to agree that you had read and understood certain win7 settings that were to be altered before installing Hoster. I did not get any warnings about this when I installed this version. I figured that it was because Win7 had become stable enough to run smoothly. Did MTU ever consider to create a Mac-version?! Most musicians use Mac, and it's really a lot less trouble getting Things to Work! Anyway, thank you for all your responses. |
Re: Lyrics background is "transparent", making it hard to read lyrics
when in windows you need to see if the refresh rate changed on the external monitor. the higher the better. i dont have windows 8 in front of me right now but in windows xp its just right clicking on the desktop and going to setting, then advanced then monitor.

Re: Lyrics background is "transparent", making it hard to read lyrics
Wow, that solved everything.
On the internal screen I can only choose 60 Hz, on the thunderbolt display I can choose between 59 Hz and 60 Hz (not that much of a difference, though :-) ) Everything is fine now. Thank you. |
