Vocopro KJ7808-RV Karaoke Mixer with Reverb

I've been using Mackie boards for # years, i have 5 of them, since i moved to Vegas 2 years ago , most of the private gigs i've been getting, 2-3x a month, mostly djing, one of the gigs i did which is a birthday party i was asked to include karaoke..thinking about switching to the Vocopro board anyone of you guys ever use this...

I have a Vocopro KJ-7808RV, works fine for me, the main reason I bought it is because it has video switching built in to the cross fader plus you can switch the view on the dj monitor to show different to the audience monitor.
As I still have standard karaoke player on my rig for singers own disc's It's very handy for switching from laptop to player plus I can view the cueing up of the player without interfering with what's showing on the singers monitor.
One downside I have with it, if I set the master volume slider over 50% I tend to hear a lot of amplifier hum, but it still gives out plenty of volume AT THE 50%.

I don't get the same amount of Hum from my studio mixer which is a Behringer XENYX QX1222 USB

thanks for the quick response , how's the sound quaility? i've been partial to mackies gears, speakers and boards i have all powered speakers, will it work with vdj board? i'm thinking of plugging in my Numark Mixtrac Pro and i don't wanna spend $500 if the sound quality is not good.and also how does the video work the vocopro if your already have your comp. on a dual display .

Re: Vocopro Karaoke Mixer

I have had my one some time now (this model has been around some time) and have been happy with it but I think if I was starting again I would get something different.

If your doing a lot of DJ mixing and constantly playing with the sliders I don't think the sliders are of the highest quality as mine can be inclined to hit a dead spot at the extreme top end.
Also RCA video in or out is a bit of old technology in todays world of HDMI.

It has plenty of inputs for other audio gear and 4 mike inputs for karaoke so see no reason why it would not work with the Numark mix track pro but why would you need it.
The main reason I bought mine some years ago was for the video mixing, I was playing a lot of music videos via a video player rather than my laptop which at that time would easily overheat from constant video playback, with the faster processors and graphic cards in todays laptops I can play all the videos direct from laptop in VDJ or Hoster so don't really require the video out capability of the vocopro mixer.

So if you require top quality sound more than the video connections I would look for something else, Lonman seems quite knowledgeable on mixers and sound equipment perhaps he will join in and advise you.

Re: Vocopro Karaoke Mixer

i'm not a club dj so i don't play or scratch and use the fader as much, most of the time when i'm doing a private party it's mostly cross fading or auto playing by beat matching, segue etc. been playing a lot of music videos and my vdj pro 7 with the help of numark mix track pro can do that, my main reason for thinking of getting the Vocopro mixer was i thought it would be easier to hook up multiple tv, since the Vocopro have i think 4 video output, as of now i have 2 42" flat screen tv hooked up to my speaker stand.i don't mind using the rca plugs, or the vga .

Re: Vocopro Karaoke Mixer

The main attraction with this mixer is it's video mixing.
It has 3 video inputs AV1,AV2,AV3 you can assign any 2 of these to the cross-fader at a time which will output to the 2 main video outputs, the 3rd video output is a separate video out for your own monitoring view which will display independent views by button selecting which input you are monitoring.
So as to main video outs it only outputs to 2 main monitors.

If you are actually mixing video inputs you would have a job to find anything better at this price level.
So for mixing video inputs it's great. (although it doesn't fade video, just switches from one to the other)
The digital echo and reverb are very good.

But if you are only worried about outputting a single source (i.e. your laptop video) to many monitors then you might just as well use a video splitter amplifier like 1 in and 4 out you can get 1 in 10 out.

I don't know if you have looked at the manuel but you can download it here: http://c3.zzounds.com/media/kj7808rv...d0bbe2e350.pdf
Page 7 shows the main video connections.

I wouldn't use VP products if they paid me to endorse them. Your Mackie will sound 100x better!! VP products are overpriced and underfeatured as far as sound quality goes. Terrible pre-amps for the mics, the built in effects are very generic.

Dale is still around and keeps an eye on the forum but has taken a back seat when it comes to answering questions, I think he is enjoying his retirement pursuing other interests.:w:)
