Unable To See Video On MPEG Video

I was able to create MPEG videos from a karaoke dvd and imported them into the new 5.09 release 2 hoster that I have recently upgraded. I am running it on Windows 7 box. The music plays but all I get is a black screen and no video. Any suggestions would help.

Re: Unable To See Video On MPEG Video

Have you installed the K-lite codec pac as described in the Manual under
Install Optional Video Codecs ?

This is a copy of it:
Hoster uses the Windows Media Player (WMP) to play movie video and graphic files. Since there are so many different compressed video formats available, WMP allows linking in modules to decode the various compressed video file types.

MTU and MTU.Community Forum members recommend the K-Lite codec pack because:
  • Click here to download K-Lite Megal Pack
  • It is easy for non-technical users.
  • It contains most codecs you need to play video/movie files, and allows installing only the ones you want.
  • You can select which codecs play which formats.
  • Un-installation removes everything installed, including registry keys.
  • It scans to avoid potential conflicts with existing codecs installed on your computer. The installation is able to detect and remove over 100 different codec and filter packs.
  • It can detect broken codecs and filters installed on your computer and helps you to remove or replace them.

This can also work to fix some video issues, once you have done as Roy Stated.

Tryed both methods, Installed K-lite (not sure if I got the right settings) and the gspot (however I only found one YV12 format for FFddshow, but not the other two settings the instructions provided) ending with the same results. Nothing but a black screen for video but the sound works. The video works within windows fine. Would converting to AVI from MPEG4 work?

Just to let you know, no playlist video's display in the preview window, only on the singers display, I presume that is the screen your referring to.

Why not try converting 1 file first, then see if it will play via the video button first.
Then if that works convert them all then re-import them.

I find all the default K-lite settings work ok for all my video types, all my newer types are MP4 that seems to be the most common type now.
To set back to default settings, from All Programs/K-Lite codec pack select codec tweak tool from there press the reset button tick all boxes then apply and close.

If you are still getting the Black Screen the next thing to try would be to go to the manufacturer of your computer's website, and get the very latest Video and Audio drivers. I have seen this fix this issue on some systems, if they have an old Video Driver.

I had this EXACT issue for my ripped videos in mpg format for almost a year on one of my computers and NO ONE could find a solution, converting to avi didn't help on my home ripped video mpgs plus is deteriorated the sound and video quality in the conversion process, drivers were always up to date. Finally found a codec setting on accident that didn't look like it related to anything and had to make sure the extended monitor was at highest setting as fas as DPI settings - that particular computer is set to 1280x800 (highest), anything lower would always show black screen during my mpg videos on the extended screen - ALL other videos played fine.
I will try to find the exact settings in the ffdshow video settings and send them your way.

Re: Unable To See Video On MPEG Video

In the ffdshow video decoder config

Makes these settings (if they already aren't)
MPEG1: libavcodec
MPEG2: libavcodec
MPEG in AVI: libavcodec
Other MPEG2: libavcodec

All the way down should be Raw Video - make this 'all supported'

Along with changing the display properties of the extended screen graphics to the highest, this solved my problem and am able to see all my home ripped videos in mpg format on the extended screen.

Re: Unable To See Video On MPEG Video

Had the same problem on some of my dvd karaoke converted to mpeg files. I always used the same setting when I converted or ripped my dvd karaoke files. But for some reason on two dvd's some ripped/converted files to mpeg won't show the video on hoster but same files played on vlc and other it will show the video with no problem. So, I decide to re-encode the files with TMPGEnc plus 2.5 and viola no more problem. I believe it is something to do with the encoding parameter. If it is not a standard vcd parameter (Mpeg1/mpeg2) it won't show the video in hoster. I have to mentioned this though, even some files on the same dvd were ripped and converted fine, some came ot differently perhap the original video files were not standard. Hoster only plays compliant mpeg1/mpeg2 standard.
