Database trouble
I tried to move my music files from C drive to D drive. I cannot seem to get Hoster to index my files in the new location. I reinstalled Hoster on D drive but that does not seem to make a difference. I don't want to change my book id numbers as that would screw up my catalogs. Anyone know exactly what I need to do to accomplish this. I am using a HP pavilion laptop and windows 8. My file are zip and KMH. I also have a issue with Hoster startup giving me the window asking to change user setting. I have done that but still get this dialog box each time I click on Hoster launch. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Database trouble
Have you rebuilt the database? You need to remove the old C drive folders & add the D drive folders.

Re: Database trouble
To the best of my knowledge you should only install Hoster on the C\Drive.
You can have your music files on another drive but I believe you need to install Hoster on the C\Drive. If you've moved the song files to your D\drive then you have to point Hoster to it but if your database still contains all the old paths you need to remove them first. Open Tools/Songs database/Build database, in the bottom left hand pane of this dialog is a list of your presently imported files, if the files showing there are starting with the C:\ directory you need to remove them first. This can be done by selecting them all and using the exclude folders button. Doing this will remove them from the Songs database so you wont get duplicated entries. Once you have removed the file paths you no longer want, use the ADD folders button to load the file paths from your D:\drive 1 at a time, when doing this make sure you actually see the files in the selected folder before pressing the select button. You should see a dialog showing how many files it's importing right away. If you have multiple folders with your song files in you can use the Add Folders/Sub-folders button. Using this button you could just select your D:\ drive as the parent folder and it will then search all files on the drive, first looking for KMA files then KMH files, if using this button make sure none of the Song types to index buttons are selected so that it will only index previously indexed files and not start adding any others that you may not want. As to your other problem " I also have a issue with Hoster startup giving me the window asking to change user setting" I can't think why that should keep appearing, see if it still keeps appearing after re-installing and getting your files re indexed to your D:\drive. By the way I take it you don't have a cd dvd drive as that is normally the D: drive ? |
Re: Database trouble
No, D drive is my second hard drive on this computer. I needed more space on the C drive so I thought moving this large files would resolve C drive space problem. I will fool around some more and see if I can get this fixed and let you know. Thanks for the help.
