Import Of All Star Karaoke Songs
I bought a song from All Star Karaoke to check out this new feature. It was downloaded into "My Documents". I was able to get it onto my play list by selecting the Karaoke Button and I was able to play it. I copied it to my MTU/Hoster/Karaoke but when I try to edit it it doesn't show up as a file on my system.
What do I need to do to IMPORT any songs from the All Star karaoke site, so they become a part of my Hoster file? Thanks, Wes |
Re: Import Of All Star Karaoke Songs
If you look in your Tools/Songs database dialog, at the bottom is a brows window for "select a directory for auto indexing"
If you create a seperate folder for this purpose and brows to it in this window then it will set that folder to always import any new downloads from All Star or any other sites you download from when you start Hoster. Then any future downloads place in this folder. When you start Hoster after selecting a folder in this window it will automatically bring up a dialog for indexing those files. One tip if the imported files have underscores in the title and artist fields remember to tick the box for "Replace underscores with blank spaces" this will save having to edit them out afterwards. |
Re: Import Of All Star Karaoke Songs
Wes,
Hard drive downloads need to be indexed to be located and formatted for Hoster to be able to edit the file... Go to the header "Import Songs", and follow the instructions for "Index Hard Drive Files"... As a side note, I would file the receipts for any on-line purchases for downloads, as the 1:1 requirement for legality may have to be tested for future proof of legally obtained music downloads... All Star also has capability of Custom Disks, which may be more to your liking for future purchases... Your Call... *** Sorry Roy must have been typing about the same time I saw your request... |
Re: Import Of All Star Karaoke Songs
Thanks to Roy and Rick, I was able to finally include the downloaded MP3+G song into my Hoster database. The operation is not that easy and at the first try I forgot to include the second file and only transfered the MP3 file which only gave me the audio and not the graphics.
When loaded the "type" for the MP3 only is HDAUD and when the other file is included its HDMP3G. HDAUD will play, but without the graphics, while HDMP3G includes the graphics and the audio. Once again, for a non-professional using Hoster at home importing the ALL Star Karaoke file was quite a chore. Thankfully, Roy and Rick were willing to provide the guidance I needed. THANKS, Wes |

I'm back with an ALL STAR KARAOKE download question. What is the simple way to download MP3+G files from the internet? The procedure you referenced above is no longer part of the program. There is no directory for auto indexing to. Even the video on the help site is no longer valid since it also outlines a procedure you referenced which has been changed by an update to the Hoster program. Through hit and miss I was able to finally download a file, but it I had to outline what I did, I couldn't list the steps. So, what is the procedure to download MP3+g files? Wes |
Re: Import Of All Star Karaoke Songs
Wes, here is an example of how I do it. I use windows explorer to make a folder on my hard drive. I name this folder Karaoke Downloads. I then make sub folders and name them after the company I am downloading from. An example, All Star Karaoke, Karaoke Version, etc. Now when I am ready to download songs, I select the option "save as" and direct the downloads to the appropriate folder. Once that is done, I can deal with how I am going to index them into Hoster. Because company's use different formats for their "define order" I index each folder separately and choose the define order that is the proper one for that particular company. This is pretty quick if you are only supplementing your already established database. To take this one step further, I also name my sub folder with the define order. In other words, All Star Karaoke (Disk ID - Artist - Title). This may not be the define order for All Star but you get my drift. When I go to index my songs from All Star, I see the define order and set my define order accordingly for that folder. I continue this for each folder. Hope this helps.

Re: Import Of All Star Karaoke Songs
Yes it did change a bit, a new quick index option was added under the Import songs menu named "Scan Now" if you select that it will bring up the Define field order dialog, brows to the folder you downloaded the files to.
In the case of Allstar Karaoke set field order to Title - Artist - Ignore, be sure to tick the box for replace underscores then click the next button to set the bookid then press scan now. That is the quick way but I generally still use the old index song files option which gives me more control of how it imports and allows me to tag more songs onto existing Book Id's. It is explained better in the manual under: Import Downloaded tracks just under import cdg tracks. |
Re: Import Of All Star Karaoke Songs
Roy,
Thanks again for your help I think I did what you describe along with a couple other procedures and I finally got the download so I could use it with Hoster. Next time I download, I'll use your procedure first to see how it works. Walt, Thanks also for your input. Wes |
