Unable Open Hoster

The last time I ran Hoster. It worked fine. A couple of days ago, I clicked the Icon and it would not open. I had forgot my Password (just lucked out today) so I opened a ticket with MTU, Thursday night, but still no response. I noticed I apparently Upgraded Adobe Flash Player to 11. I am wondering if any one else had this problem. I removed Adobe Flash Player & tried Uninstall & reinstall of Hoster & still can't open it. This computer is V 5.04...Wayne

This is an excerpt of a post I put up last week. Maybe there is some connection here. Hopefully the programmers are comparing our notes. :)

Last weekend, about an hour before I was about to leave for a gig, I turned on my show laptop to view a playlist. After I had a playlist up, no matter what song I highlighted and tried to "play", the song would immediately go to the red error and nothing would start. I tried rebuilding the database, to no avail. All songs errored out. The only thing that happened in the past week was that I installed a newer version of vdj and an adobe update. I decided to restore to before those two updates. No joy there, songs still turn red error after play is clicked.

Did you get an instant responce ticket # after submitting your support ticket ?
If not it may be the reply went to your spam folder or you gave a wrong email address.

First try this, open your C\MTU\Hoster folder, and create a new folder within it and name it "mdb backups", then find your songs.mdb and move it to that folder, making sure it is no longer in the original folder then (if your song files are on an external drive make sure it's connected before starting Hoster the first time) see if Hoster opens, it may start rebuilding the database before opening, if not after it opens rebuild the database.
If it still won't open do the same with the singers.mdb database moving it to the new folder then try restarting Hoster.
If you still get no joy copy and paste the files from the backup folder you created back in their original places and try to restore your computer to an earlier time before the problem started. You can usually find this from Programs/Accessories/System tools/System restore.
Let us know how you get on.

I got a ticket #, but still have not rec'd a response from MTU. My email is correct & I don't have a spam folder, I have Junk Mail folder & I get the mail. Just in a different folder. Nothing there either.

Only Explanation is that it is related to Adobe Flash Player update. Mine doesn't just fail to find songs, It is unable to Open Hoster. I have tried uninstalls & installs every way I can think of with no success.

Have you tried as I explained hiding your songs.mdb in another folder ?

Yes I did & it didn't help. I have also uninstalled the Adobe Flash Player altogether & that didn't help either.

Any chance you can restore your computer back to a point/date where you know it was working ok?

Re: Unable Open Hoster

Somehow the last time I restored, I must have shut off periodic restore points, because I only have 2 & they are before and after removing/installing Hoster after I had this problem. I uninstalled Hoster & installed the same version under a different Laptop. I am going to try to load an older version and see if it works.
