Singer monitor lyrics stalls, pixels, etc

Hello. My last computer died and I upgraded to Hoster 5.07 at the same time, so I don't know which, or if both are causing the issue below. Laptop is ASUS G74 with the best other than 3D. All updates are installed. The prior verison of hoster I have is 5.06 in case we need to go there. Right now, I am running 5.07.

Naturally, when you are running your Hoster show, you need to open folders, move things around, or just touch items on your desktop...keep this in mind. While typing this, I don't have a monitor connected, I open Hoster, I get my preview display (locked in its corner) and the singers display that can be moved and resized. I go to "tool", "show dispay", "preview" and I want "undock" be be "unchecked" to keep troubleshooting simple. I hit "apply" and hit "close". To confirm, the preview display is locked in place and the singer display I can move about the laptop screen until I connect to my monitor then drag it to it.
I pick a karaoke song in my playlist, doesn't matter the brand name, and the issue only happens on karaoke files, not video files. Here is the issue: I push the play icon, the singer display is displaying the lyrics perfect...I move this thread window with my mouse, singer display is ok, open a folder on the desktop that opens on top of the singer display...singer display current lyrics gets frozen, move the singer display...display lyrics get frozen until that section of song is refreshed. In a normal show when the singers display is on a projector where everyone can see it, and I touch something down on laptop that messes up those words, not a good moment. Not a projector issue because its happening right here at the table and this didn't happen on my last laptop. Got a 3 gig video card so multi-tasking should be easy, plus 12 gigs of memory! Looking for help as a gig is tonight of course. Doing free shows in my spare time in Afghanistan for soldiers and civilians (I'm an civilian, retired Army) Thanks!

It looks like a Graphics driver issue to me, according to the spec on your model you have a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460M card.
Not the one shown in your signature.
I should go to the Nvidea site and see if they have an update for your driver. You can always roll back to your existing if this doesn't help.
At one time people were rolling their drivers back to older versions to get them to work properly but I think the latest drivers have overcome most of the problems.

Have you attempted to update the video driver?

Thanks for the replies. Nvidia wants you to go to the manufacter of the laptop, ASUS to download from them. ASUS has a "recommended" video driver thru their auto update that I just checked on. It's 195MB, wouldn't be a problem if I was in the US, but in Afghanistan, a file that size, you had better need it and plan on 10-12 hours. Playing a free show in 3 hrs for the soldier so not installing or changing software now, tomorrow I will try. So, I was hoping on some settings fixing the issue. Other suggestions, I tried turning off the marquee even.
Thanks.

FYI, My video card is a GTX 560

I had problems with Dell's version of the NVidia driver.

Finally downloaded a driver from NVidia and Hoster started working properly.

Thanks for what you are doing to support the troops and please extend my thanks to them for what they are doing! I am also Army Ret.

Just had a thought,

If you will send your mailing address via private message I will down load the Nvidia driver(s), burn to a disk and mail to you.

Let me know!

I don't suppose it will make any difference but instead of dragging singers screen over to the other monitor have you tried double clicking on it which sends it full screen to the other monitor if connected.
Might be worth a try.

Re: Singer monitor lyrics stalls, pixels, etc

Hello. After a 12 hour download for 190mb, I have downloaded the latest ASUS nvidia video driver from their website. Here is what I downloaded in case someone else has the G74Sx and experiences the same issue.
Previous driver: V8.17.12.6837 dated 2011.05.26 NEW driver: V8.17.12.9616 dated 2012.03.21
And FYI, when the instructions say restart, I found it better to shut down during this driver install as the driver wasn't completing for a restart command.

So, I tried Hoster without a monitor connected and with the marquee flowing and different brand karaoke songs, and preview moving around, and opening folders and internet explorer...the lyrics and music flowed perfectly!
I connected my laptop to a flat screen TV here at work, and repeated everything, another perfect test! Man, nice to have a 12 hour wait paid off with a fix! Your suggestion were right on target, it's weird that a new laptop wouldn't have a installed driver to do the job...may be the reason for the new driver.
I would consider my issue resolved...Thanks gentlemen!

Thanks for letting us know that it is fixed. I will close this thread then.
One point I will put forth though is even though a laptop/computer may be new to you it may have been on the shelf at the retail for a little while. That is why we always say when you get a new computer to update it from Microsoft and check your drivers for updates too.
Glad you got it working.
