Appcrash

I have a Gateway PC that I've been using for Hoster and upgraded it today now it will not start.

I get an error message with APPCRASH in it. I have upgraded two others in the last few days with no problems.

Windows Vista

Do I have to re download?

Delete and re install?

Re: Appcrash

When you say "now it will not start" are you referring to the computer or Hoster.
If you mean Hoster wont start, try system restor to the time before you installed the upgrade, then re-download and install again.
Let us know how you get on then.

Re: Appcrash

I should try un-installing it first. Then with a fresh download re-install, if the option to remove previous settings during the installation appears (I not sure if this appears after un-installing) then tick the box and complete the installation.
Let us know the result.
By the way if you still have problem let us know from which version you are upgrading from.

That shouldn't matter, just make sure you enter your registration code correct and the same email address that was linked to that version you are upgrading from.

I notice in your first post you state " I have upgraded two others in the last few days with no problems" How many licenses do you Have ?

The full version of Hoster will only install on 2 computers, 4 if you have the quad version, Hoster lite only installs on 1 computer unless you have Duo license.

Re: Appcrash

Try this, open the C:/MTU/Hoster folder, delete the songs.mdb file.
If your songs are on an external drive make sure you connect it before restarting Hoster, it should rebuild the songs database before opening, if it still doesn't open I should submit a support ticket via the the main site here: http://www.mtu.com/support/contact-mtu.htm

Re: Appcrash

Another point, did you follow all the updates for your version of Windows including media player & explorer.
As your old version was about 3.3x, this one needs all the windows updates to function correct. Find the info here: http://www.mtu.com/upgrades/hoster/v...de-hoster4.htm

Re: Appcrash

Updated windows, made all the changes, uninstalled Hoster, redownloaded Hoster. The restart button is going to wear out :) Same problem, same error message Appcrash with all the above.

I've sent a ticket in.

Thanks for the help, sooner or later we will have this resolved.

Re: Appcrash

Gents, though I thought I had downloaded all the windows updates and the program told me there was none. Guess again. Through a lot of reading and restarting, I finally done every tweak there was to be done, downloaded SP1 &2

Bought a 2yr AVG PC tuneup, reinstalled Hoster and I'm back in business. Nice all day project glad I'm retired. Once again thank you admin and mods. Ed

Things that have helped me in the past:
Have you cleaned the Registry lately? After so many changes, things linger there & can cause confusion. I found that can solve a multitude of problems. I have sometimes need to reboot 2-3 times before everything is working as it should again.

Re: Appcrash

Okay, though I have a HP pc with the same version of Vista, I made no changes to for the upgrade and also downloaded the latest fix. It worked fine as is.

Now for the latest.

I moved my songs to the public music area.

uninstalled Hoster once again, I think the 5th time, redownloaded once again, and as usual rebooted the PC.

Rebuilt the database again it pops up as soon as I tried to start Hoster, again it gave me an error the same APPCRASH thing.

This time I rebooted again, and now Hoster works fine, thing is this time I declined the upgrade fix. I have shut the PC down and booted it back up again and now it seems to be fine, I will take the HP with me for the initial trial run. Crossing my fingers but relieved. I put at least 10 or more hours into this and I'm tired of it.

Once again thanks to Admin and Mods for the help. Ed
