install 2nd laptop

I have read several threads regarding installing Hoster software on 2 laptops and just need clarification before I do this. I bought Hoster for 2 laptops and have only had it installed on 1 laptop. I have now bought a 2nd laptop and want to install my 4.32.03 on the 2nd one. I don't want to upgrade at this time.:r

My first laptop is a Dell with XP Home. My new laptop is a Dell with XP Professional. Will there be a problem? :?

No problem providing you still have the original instalation file. When you install it you will have to enter your original registration code and the original email address that you used at the time even if that is no longer in use.
If you don't know this information you should be able to find it from your account information.
Your version will not work on the newer 64bit computers or Windows 7 should you ever think of getting one.

Re: install 2nd laptop

I have installed the software and downloaded my files to an external hard drive. I started getting Hoster issues before I completed my imports. When I started using the EDIT tool to delete duplicates or make corrections to my data, Hoster started locking up with Database cannot open and Hoster would not let me back in when I closed it down. I would also have to close the import window after every import before I started to import again. I have to reboot everytime I make a correction.
This is the error: :f
AppName: hoster.exe AppVer: 4.3.2.0 ModName: hoster.exe
ModVer: 4.3.2.0 Offset: 000f33a0

Should I reload Hoster? Do I need to reload my Office Access?

Try doing a rebuild of the database first. may have gotten corrupted.

Re: install 2nd laptop

If I rebuild using the same info list I built it with once I imported everything, won't it put back all the deletes I did to the database through the Edit tool?

Re: install 2nd laptop

If all the edits were done through Hosters Edit dialog then the changes will be saved in the kma files headers and rebuilding the database won't return all deleted files.
If you used Access at any time to do your editing then there is a good chance that those changes will be undone.
That's why you should stick to Hosters Edit dialog to make changes.

I rebuilt my song database but I still have the issue when I use the edit and log out of Hoster, it won't let me back in until I reboot. I am still getting the offset error I had been getting. I only use the edit in Hoster. Will it hurt anything to reload the Hoster software? Do I uninstall and then reinstall or just reinstall? Thanks.

You can just re-install, I don't know if that version has a tick box on one of the installation screens to remove all settings but if you see that it might be as well to tick it.

I tried to do an upgrade (didn't know if I needed to run uninstall and then install). Got error: E1706 - couldn't find source from Hoster. Do I need to uninstall? THanks.:?

No need to uninstall, when you see that error just ignore it and carry on.

I want to add a second computer and have 4.0. Why do you say this won't work with windows 7 64bit? My other computer works fine and it is windows 7. When I ordered 4.0 I also got the disk with it does that make a difference. I really don't want to update since everything works fine.

Re: install 2nd laptop

If your other windows 7 computer was 32bit it would be OK, if your new one is 64 bit thats where the problems arrose.

My other computer is 64bit. Will it work since I don't want any upgrades? I think I also still have the original manual and window 7 changes from when I first installed this. The new computer won't get here until Monday so I'm trying to be prepared.

Your writing about the same problem in 2 different threads, please stick to one.

make sure you read the answers in the other thread you started.

No one can tell you if it will work for definate or not on your computer, some people had problems installing 64bit versions prior to a fix that was made in version 4.32.
