New Lyrics Problem With Hoster and Microstudio

Just when I thought I had my lyrics problem solved, a new but related problem has appeared.

When I open Hoster and play a track, the lyrics in the singer's window are un-readable, but the small window lyrics are fine. When I use the Hoster edit tool, again the lyrics are fine. The audio is fine.

When I open Microstudio and play a track the window is un-readable, but the audio is fine.

I'm not sure what changed since I followed Roy's advice and downloaded the windows driver, 285.79 beta for Windows 7 64. That download fixed my original lyrics problem and lack of program response, but when I tried to play a track today the lyrics are un-readable. The program does respond to inputs and audio is fine.

Help,
Wes

Do you play games on this machine ?
I am wondering if it has something to do with your screen resolution, why I ask if you play games on this machine is some games change screen resolutions although usually return to normal after.
As you say it was working alright when you first used it with this new driver.
Is the singers lyrics window unreadable if displayed on the laptop and when on the extended monitor ?

I should check the screen resolution (Right click desktop select Screen Resolution) I think you should see (recommended) next to one of the selections, same if you have extended view, check that resolution as well.

Roy,

Thanks for the reply. No I don't play games with the exception of Solitare while I'm waiting for a procedure to finish.

I did play with Live Movie Maker to see how it works, but that was all. I noticed that some Window updates were offered for download and I did download them.

I'll check out the resolution idea, but I know I've not changed it, but I did change (increase) the size of type, so I could see the information better while using Hoster. I'll also use a second monitor to answer your other question. I bought this laptop mainly for Hoster. Maybe I should have picked 32 bit rather than 64.

I have to make a correction to the driver I downloaded. It was the 285.62 and not the 285.79 as I previously stated. When I try to use .79 it wouldn't install, so I went to the NVIDIA site and found .62 which worked as I have indicated.

Thanks,
Wes

I'm running 64bt myself with no problems but then I have ATI graphics card, most problems regarding this are associated with the Nvidea drivers.

UPDATE

I used Device Manager to check the display adapters and found I have two displays. One is the NIVIDIA Quandro 1000M and it has a driver from NIVIDIA 8.17.12.8562 dated 10/15/2011.

The second display adapter is INTEL Graphics Family with an Intel Driver 8.15.10.2321 dated 3/6/2011.

Is it possible the two different display drivers are fighting each other?

The Monitor is a Lenovo ThinkPad Display 1600x900 with a screen resolution of 1600x900 which is the recommended setting. Its driver is from Lenovo 4.36.0.0 dated 3/4/2011.

I also see a Generic PnP Monitor with Microsoft Driver 6.1.7600.16385 dated 6/21/2006 listed in the Device Manager "Monitors".

Using Hoster, I connected a computer monitor to my Laptop, selected extend and dragged the singer's window onto it. The text for the lyrics was fairly clear, but the preview window became garbled. I dragged the singer's window back to the laptop and the lyrics became garbled and the preview lyrics became clear. I also noticed the advert display for Hoster, "Hoster from MTU.com" was clear on both windows.

I was able to drag the lyrics window in Microstudio onto the second monitor and the result was clear lyrics. If I drag it back they start to become garbled. If I double click on the windows it fills the screen, but I can't drag it back to the laptop unless I double click again.

I have an Acer Netbook that has Hoster installed for Win XP and it works great. I also have the XP function as part of my Win T Pro 64 and if push comes to shove I may try that if I can. The only good thing for me is I'm not a professional, so I only use my Hoster for personal enjoyment, so I'm not losing any bookings while I try to fix my NVIDIA driver problem.

Thanks for any help,

Wes

Regarding Hoster, do you have your preview window attatched or floating on the screen ?
If you have it floating, open the show display, select the preview tab make sure both Undock and always on top boxes are not ticked, then press apply. Now shut down the computer.

Next plug in your external monitor switch it on then start your laptop and when ready start Hoster, now double click the singers monitor, it should go to the external monitor without dragging it. If it just fills your laptop screen and the only way you can get it to the external monitor is by dragging it then something is wrong with the setup let us know what happens.

Regarding your having dual graphics cards I have read somewhere about this in the paste but can't find anything on it in the forum but would think you could try dissabling one at a time. You should be able to do this from the Device manager by right clicking on one and choosing Disable, you can always repeat this action to re-enable if no improvement.

Re: New Lyrics Problem With Hoster and Microstudio

After doing some research on these dual graphics cards most of them seem to work by an automatic switching system and from what I've read you can't alter it but I did find this statement don't know if your computer has the same switch.

Interestingly, though, Lenovo hasn’t opted for Nvidia’s Optimus technology, choosing instead to utilise a physical switch on the laptop's front edge. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing: where Optimus automatically switches between the Intel and Nvidia chipsets as it sees fit, the Z570 has you swapping chipsets at the flick of a switch, which you could argue gives you more control. Sticking with Intel’s integrated HD Graphics 3000, the Z570 lasted a healthy 5hrs 27mins in our light-use battery test.

I found the above on this site: http://www.thinkdigit.com/forum/grap...hics-card.html
Post # 10.

Re: New Lyrics Problem With Hoster and Microstudio

My preview window was not floating and yes if I double click on the singer's window it will jump back and forth between the laptop display and my computer display. I can also drag it from the laptop to the other monitor and back again. While on the computer monitor the lyrics are clear, but when on the laptop they are garbled.

I can move the window in Microstudio the same way by double click and again the lyrics are clear on the computer monitor, but garbled on the laptop display.

My Lenovo W-520 does have Nvidia's Optimus technology and doesn't have a physical switch. http://www.thinkdigit.com/Laptops-PC...Pads_6261.html

Thanks for your help,

Re: New Lyrics Problem With Hoster and Microstudio

I'd say put in a support ticket from the main MTU site, only thing is it may be a while before getting a responce now due to the Christmas break.
Meanwhile just have to see if I or anyone else has can come up with ideas on how to solve this.
Or exsperiment yourself with settings in your nvidea control panel.

Re: New Lyrics Problem With Hoster and Microstudio

I put in a ticket and I also followed your advice and disabled the NVIDIA adapter and in Microstudio, as well as, Hoster I get clear lyrics. What I don't get is dual monitor capabilities.

When I enabled the NIVIDA and then disabled INTEL adapter my computer display became my main display and the laptop was black. Since I'm not a computer expert, I think I'll wait for the support folks.

Thanks again for all your advice,
Wes

Re: New Lyrics Problem With Hoster and Microstudio

It is connected via VGA to an old computer monitor. The W-520 also has a display port connector which I'm not using.

You are not able to disable the Intel video chip, but you can try to disable the NVIDIA. I have a Lenovo T410 and it works fine with the updated drivers from here http://www.mtu.com/kb/kb/index.php?a...id=112&relid=2 but my Nvidia Chip is an NVS4200m chip.

Re: New Lyrics Problem With Hoster and Microstudio

Bryan,

I went to the suggested site: http://www.nvidia.com/download/find.aspx
and I downloaded the latest BETA driver, 290.53 to replace 285.62 and everything is working fine. The lyrics are clear and I can run another monitor. Things are good.

Thanks to your help, and thanks to Roy's help, I can now use my new Lenovo laptop and my Acer netbook to run Hoster and Microstudio with dual monitors.
