Hoster 5.05 Bug Reports

Please only post Video Hoster 5.05 bugs here. :w

We released 5.05 to restore merging duplicate BookIDs. The other changes are below:

<ol>
<li><strong>RESTORED Merge Duplicate BookIDs Function</strong> - This is now in &quot;Import Songs&quot; menu - Import & Index Songs Database dialog, and the Build Songs Database dialog. If any duplicate BookIDs are found when using the <strong>Add Folder</strong> or <strong>Refresh Folder</strong> buttons, those songs are saved. Clicking either <strong>Merge Dupes</strong> buttons shows a dialog to select the starting BookID or let the next unused be assigned, and then the Merge Now button renumbers the BookIDs.</li>
<li><strong>FIXED - Preview Display Wrong Size or Disappears when Floating</strong> - When the Preview Display is undocked in the Tools menu - Show Display command, Preview tab, it randomly would take on the size and location of the Show Display, which usually appears in the second monitor. This made it appear that the Preview Display disappeared. We found a bug causing this and the Preview Display should now keep its own size and location settings.</li>
<li><strong>CHANGED - Import CD Tracks Screen</strong> - Whenever a CDG Disc is changed in the drive, Hoster now clears the Brand and DiscID fields. This insures users don't accidentally reuse the wrong Brand or DiscID for multiple discs.</li>
<li><strong>REMOVED - Edit Songs Dialog Edit BookID</strong> - <span class="red" style="background:yellow">We no longer allow editing a BookID</span>. The Singers Database uses BookIDs to add Songs under Singers. Thus, changing a BookID used in the Songs Database causes problems that are very hard to diagnose. Once you assign a bookID to a song, it is permanent.</li>
<li><strong>NEW - Genre Additions</strong>: Reggaeton, Cumbia, Ranchera, Tejano, Norteno, Shotiz, Bachata, Romance.</li>
<li><strong>NEW - Detect URL in a Message While Installing</strong> - Multiple messages can appear during installation to guide you. We can now include web page URLs that the Installation program now detects and launches your browser for more details to show how to fix this error.</li>
<li><strong>NEW - Detect URL in Check Version Upgrades Message</strong> - If we include a web page address (URL) in an &quot;Check for upgrade message&quot;, Hoster will launch your default Browser to show that page. This allows us to give you more information about upgrades, newsletters, etc.</li>
</ol>

You can download version 5.05 from: http://www.mtu.com/upgrades/hoster.htm

This should be a safe version to upgrade. The changes were minimal and 4 beta versions were tested by our International Testing Team.

Re: Hoster 5.05 Bug Reports

Well I'm got problems with my singers database now since updating. Three different times tonight I clicked on a song to be played and it appeared in the rotation with a different name even though the book ID was the same. I can't confirm if the song was different, I didn't dare during the gig. I'll look into it further when I get up...

If your still having this problem try this: select the singer button then press the yellow Refresh DB button see if that helps.

I just noticed this in the 5.05 upgrade.

I don't like this change because I had some BookID's to change when moving songs to my backup system and I had to go manually change them to match my book!!!

Now what do I do when that happens?

What I will do right now is NOT upgrade!!!

I also noticed that I had several singers that their song database was merged with someone elses. When I deleted the songs from one, it deleted the songs from the other! I refreshed the data base and it crashed my system.

Have you had any further problems with the above point ?

From what I see above be sure to do the recommended settings before installation, install, then try running Hoster and let us know.

I will be happy to let you know, but I don't want to go to all the set up requirements if this isn't compatible or doesn't have enough speed to run the show. Can you tell me if this is a good computer for Hoster?:?

Re: Hoster 5.05 Bug Reports

jcsings,

I see no reason your new system shouldn't run Hoster wery well. In my experience, the higher RAM means Hoster runs better.

I went from 4gb to 8gb and have seen a noticable difference. For example, I can load a singers disc while somone is singing and don't have any problems (i.e., studdering).

As KenKelly said, do your recommended changes to Win7 and you should be good to go...
