I Give Up!!!!!

Hoster is a great product and I find it very useful, I have no intention on going elsewhere

However, I feel you have to be a heavy hitter out in this community to get your requests considered.

You also need to be a heavy hitter to simply vote against someone's idea to get it vetoed.

There have been no new features added to Hoster in the last year plus that I personally find useful and thank God they are optional or I would need to go somewhere else. A few people are getting their problems solved.

I GIVE UP. Until someone with clout comes up with a request that is useful and gets implemented I see no reason to continue to upgrade Hoster.

Thanks, Stu

I hate to disagree with you but that is not true. Regardless of how much "clout" as you call it a person has here if there is such a thing all suggestions are treated equal. There are several factors involved in determining whether a suggestion is implemented.
  • Difficulty in adding it
  • The cost in manhours to add it
  • How many support the idea
I am sorry your suggestion was not accepted as you wanted it, but many suggestions that sound real good to the individual just are not accepted by the majority or too costly or too difficult to add.
I am going to close this as it is not a New Feature Request and does not belong here. Please do not start another thread in this area unless it is for a new feature.

Re: I Give Up!!!!!

I moved this to the "Hoster Help" forum.

Stu, I beg you to review the changes we made in 5.03. When Hoster was first conceived in 1999, and first shipped in 2001, we didn't expect hosts would have 15,000+ songs in their Songs Database. Thus, as more users exceeded this limit, the Search dialog time to find a song got longer and longer. One user has 30,000 Karaoke, 30,000 Audio and 1,000 Video files indexed in Songs DB. He was seeing 53 seconds to find a song by TITLE. Now it should take seconds.

5.03 had 22 new-changed-fixed items.

5.02 had 12 mostly fixed bugs.

I KNOW there are some features there that would benefit you. Read them at:
http://www.mtu.com/upgrades/hoster.htm#503

You are not the only one who doesn't upgrade. Many don't because they are afraid the new version won't run on their "old" computer.

That's why we offer the demo, albeit with a much smaller Import Database so they can try it on their computer.

Hope you will check out the changes that have been made.

I'm not picking on you, and Dale is exactly right. He has seen for close to a decade how many single user requests we have accepted and done, as we believed 75%+ of our users wold benefit from them.

Also, right now we have a massive development underway that we have posponed since 2002. It's time. We simply are EXTREMELY SELECTIVE on what we will spend our limited resources on until this is done. :w
