songbook problems

how did all of you fix the problem of different manufacturers listing the same song different ways? for example some list the beatles some beatles the etc. Is there a way to resort the artists listing and keep the heading(artist) with the songs? i tried sorting with open office and microsoft office but no luck. it lists everything in order thus you loose the heading and song listing beloning to that artist I hope you understand what i am asking for i do not feel i am communicating the problem well.

Not quite sure if this is what you are after but if you go to Tools Tab/Edit songs, when this dialog opens select multiple at the top, make sure you have artist highlighted in the fields selection, then (using beatles as your example) just type in the word beatles press find.
This will list all artist with the word beatles in, i,e The Beatles, Beatles, The, Beatles and any other configuration.
Now click the top track to highlight it then scroll to the bottom of the list and use shift + left click on the last song, this will highlight all those songs for editing. Now type the name in the artist field below the list box as you want it to appear for all (Which should be Beatles, The) then press Apply changes. you will have to confirm these changes but it will change all the highlighted names the same.
