Startup Error Message about bad def002.hst - Bad Playlist file, delete and rebuild

Although I've been getting the following message for some time, thought latest update would cure it. It didn't. I just normally ignore it and the software still works fine. But here's what I get in a button when 1st starting up Hoster:

C:MTU\Hoster\def003.hst is an invalid playlist file format.
Please only open a playlist file with a .hst extension created by Hoster.

Kinda confused here. If anybody can help me get rid of this, most appreciated.

Another item of confusion is the sometimes when running my show with the little viewing window "undocked" and enlarged and placed in the bottom right corner of my monitor, the viewing window sometimes just disappears completely. I then have to reset all windows back to default before I can set it up the way I want again. Very weird. Any suggestions or icites? Once again, most appreciate Hoster for their fine software & great support.

Re: Error Message at Hoster Startup

I don't know why this is happening but here are a couple of suggestions that may help.
When you have your playlist open, from the File menu choose Save As, then save with the file name "def003" without the quotes. close Hoster then restart.
If you still get the same error repeat the above but Save As a completly different name, Example "Starter".
Now navigate to the folder containing these playlist files, should be C/MTU/Hoster and find the offending def003.hst file and delete it.
Hope this helps.

Thanks Roy. I'll try that tonight & advise if it works.

The 1706 Error message is an artifact of the InstallSheild program we have used since 1989. It builds the Hoster installation program. FYI: I don't see the 1706 message unless I have other programs running, or I haven't restarted Windows for a week or so.

We have tried for years, paid their $2,000 PER upgrade, and they can't give us a clue how to prevent it.

SO... after 21 years as their customer, with no support at all, we're dumping InstallShield and will be using the NSIS installer program. It will take some time to convert all our programs over to NSIS.

Well, this is telling you that your "def003.hst" playlist is damaged. It is very rare that a playlist gets damaged. You've lost the contents of that file. :s

What version of Hoster are you running? We have code that specifically prevents the Preview Display from being positioned outside the active display area. This was added some versions back, I just don't remember which. Also, you may try shutting Hoster down, and restarting it. This also "should" reset the Preview Display back into the active screen.

Re: Error Message at Hoster Startup

OK all...the suggestion I got worked kinda. I went into the Hoster main folder, actually deleted that file AND an .002 version, so only had the def .001 file. WORKS FINE NOW! YEA! Have no idea what happend, but I'm glad the Hoster software is back to where it was previouslu...working great! Thanks all!
