Hoster 5 + Windows 7 needs advanced k-lite codex to play mp4 video

I have a laptop Dell 17T with 4gb ram 160gb internal hd with 1.5 tb external. and a dell precision 380 dual core with 2gb ram. Laptop is running Windows 7 home and the desktop is running Windows 7 pro. neither will run mp4 video. I imported the mp4 and checked the file and it has the mp4 and kmh file in the folder. I have 2 other desktops that run windows xp and after intalling k-lite codec ran mp4 files properly. The 2 with Windows 7 have had k-lite codecs installed and still show the video to be 54:12 in length and the comp with xp show the 4:12 proper length. I hope this the right spot to place this post. thanks in advance for your help.

Re: Hoster 5.xx Windows 7 Will not play mp4 video

I Did find the fix. I put in a more advanced k-lite codec package and both are now working. The mp4 goes into the list showing 59 minutes but after you have it start within a few seconds it shows the proper time. Not sure what that all about but can live with that.

Post this time difference problem in the following thread. MTU is trying to keep all problems found with 5.02 in one location to make it easier for them to refer to for testing and fixing.

All my MP4 videos show the correct time as soon as I load them. Have you tried the configuration settings ? If you mess things up you can always select "Reset to Recommended settings".

Not the configuration settings in Windows 7, What I was referring to was if you go to start/programs K-lite codec pac, If I click on that folder It lists a tweak tool and a configuration folder. It may be that something in these settings can fix your problem, As I said if you try some and it makes things go wrong you can always use the reset to recommended setting option.

If you click on the Codec Tweak tool then manage preferred source filters, check the settings that show there for mp4, mine are all set to default but if you experiment with settings you may find something that suits you.

What is the codex tweak tool? I have downloaded the instacodecs package but how do I get Hoster 5.02 to convert my m4v file to wmv so I can play it ?
All I want to do is be able to play my m4v song videos. Help needed..

1: When I installed version K-Lite_Codec_Pack_570_Standard some time ago, if I go to start/ All Programs then look down the list do you not see a folder "k-lite Codec Pack" if I click this I see a list of other folders one of them being "Codec Tweak tool" are you not seeing this folder ?
After clicking this another list opens with a selection choose "Manage Preferred source folders" then play around with these settings.

Hoster does not convert your video it just plays it at whatever type you load, no conversion takes place.

In your original query you were asking about MP4 video, now you are mentioning m4v files. I have never used m4v type myself so am unable to give you advise on these only MP4

If you want to try converting your video to a type you can use in Hoster, try this free video converter: http://www.any-video-converter.com/p...or_video_free/

I've used it myself quite succesfully but it doesn't mention m4v amongst it's formats but as it's free could be worth a try.
