Extended Monitor
 
I have a Dell Inspiron 6400 (2gb Ram) been using it for more than 3 years works great..went to work Thur nite hooked everything up as normal, the extended vga monitor would not extend I tried a different cord no work...tried a different monitor, no work I tried to reset the settings in the control panel display,,no work luckily I had another laptop in the car, I got thru the nite..the next day at home I put the Dell on line downloaded all updates, downloaded all drivers,,still no work..I hooked a svideo cable it works, but a bit fuzzy ,,,,,where do I go from here

How do you normally hook it up? Do you have a VGA convert in the line for your shows?
When you went to extend the desktop did you set the extension monitor to be "Attached"?

No Converter, Just Vga Cable From Laptop To Monitor,,i Did;nt Mention I'm Running Xp Pro...in The Display Settings Area I Could Not See Anything Allowing Me To Attach,,,thanks For The Reply Douglas.......

I wouldn't be surprised if it's the VGA port connections to the motherboard damaged :e

Might be a good idea to get it checked by an expert.

Right click on the secondary monitor in the settings and click on Attach.

As Roy said have the VGA out checked on the Dell. Sounds like it has died.
