Re: Installing 5.00
If you purchased an upgrade it does require you to already have your original purchased version on the computer.
If you purchased the full product then it should install on a new computer. Depending which version you previously had, if it was the previous version 4.32 it should allow you to un-install from your old computer and reinstall on your new one providing you are connected to the Internet when you un-install. Then upgrade that to 5.00. If you have the full version (Not Lite) you can have it on 2 computers but again you must have an existing payed for version on that computer to upgrade. If you are trying to install this on a new computer because your old one ceased to work and you can't un-install from the original computer then I'm afraid the only thing you can do is send a support ticket explaining this and Admin will have to reset your account. This would also be neccesary for most of the earlier versions that did not allow you to un-install and reinstal to different computers without informing MTU. Same if you purchased the full product and it won't install, again submit a support ticket via the main MTU site. |
Re: Installing 5.00
Roy, thanks for your attempt to aid me in getting my new computer up and going. The only thing that I didn't mention was that I was instructed BY MTU that all I needed to do was to pay 69.99 for the upgrade to 5.0..previously we owned two separate MTU programs that were used on separate computers....one of those computers has been disposed of.....
0ct 2008, i paid for an upgrade to 4.32???? but somehow managed to forget about it until after it had expired a long time.....we continued doin our shows on the MTU 3.120 ???? (dellxp) but that computer is giving us some minor problems and so we purchased the Toshiba (7windows) I called MTU and sent an email listing my situation completely, that call was returned, and that was when i purchased the upgrade to 5.0 being told that was what I needed to accomplish what I needed for both old and new computers. I downloaded the upgrade that I purchased, but when I tried to install it on the new laptop (toshiba windows 7) it wouldn't...It was at that time I realized the problem....and posted to confirm my suspicions..I also sent another email to MTU outlining the entire situation, I rec'd a ticket number and am currently waiting for a response. since so much time has passed, I can't do the upgrade on the dell until after we finish our shows for this week. I really wish MTU had a check list or at least an in-detail instruction sheet that was available when you purchased an upgrade...it has been a real challenge everytime I have had to do anything regarding new purchases of upgrades. We have been good customers for MTU since 2003 and have purchased two computers, the suites (4) and many upgrades of all the software from them. I'm not very good with computers, so some easily available help would really help and possibly avoid a nervous breakdown....thanks |

Hopefully you will have a result from your support ticket by the time you want to install after your shows. Did you mention in your support ticket that one of the computers it was installed on was disposed of as then they could reset your registration to show that it is only installed on one computer at this current time. As I said before the full version allows installing on 2 computers (not so with the light version) |

In addition to my message above, you may want to read this from the MTU information.

Re: Installing 5.00
ROY, thanks again for taking the time to try helping me...I tried doing what you suggested, to no avail...more info: it has been a long time but here's what apparently transpired: our laptop that we bought from Mtu developed a fatal flaw (contacts on motherboard at usb cracked or broke), we were to do a show the same day. I left a message at Mtu and Lynn called me back just hours before we were scheduled for a show. as far as I can tell we had 2.122or 2.219. We bought a dell laptop and needed it set up..at that time, they were switching to 4.00 (10/29/2008) She sold me an upgrade for 69.99 and then also gave me access to 3.120 to put on the computer in order to add the upgrade that I had just purchased....I did as she said and got the computer working in time....and then proceeded to forget about the upgrade tthat I had paid for...until we started having trouble with that Dell...which was recently. I sent emails and called MTU..i detailed our situation thoroughly, Lynn called me back last week and told me all I needed to do to get the new toshiba laptop up and loaded, was to purchase another upgrade to the 5.0 which I did....I suppose I will just have to wait until I get some response from the ticket....which I did and I'm waiting.. this whole process is extremely difficult to get answers and action ...I wish it were not so difficult to get help.
do you have any new suggestions? thanks again |

Since this is a new computer and you didn't install the 4.32 upgrade on the old one (from your additional posts) then you will need to get MTU to clear that registration for the old computer, before you can install 5.00. Since you have put in a ticket then they can take care of that. There have been some delays of recent due to weather problems in their area, so may take a little longer than usual. |
