Hoster can't find HDZIP files
I have HDZIP files that I can see in my KMA holding file. Problem is that when a HDZIP is loaded into the playlist by any method, I get a error and a new window stating the zip file is missing.
I can see the file in the KMA holding file. This happens with all HDZIP files. I have Hoster 432.12. I have tried rebuilding the database several times, deleting the song database and letting Hoster rebuilding upon startup. Read the manual but I think it addresses this. This same problem occurs on my backup machine. Thanks |
Re: Hoster can't find HDZIP files
I believe you are referring to KMH files instead of KMA.
Were these imported with version 4.20 or after? If so then what you are seeing are KMH files and not KMA files. A KMH file is only a header file that is 256 bytes and does not contain the ZIP file in it. The ZIP files have to be in the same folder as the KMH files. If you moved the ZIP files or the KMH files to a different location then they will not work. The original zip file and associated KMH file must stay in the folder you imported them from in order for Hoster to be able to find them. This is different from previous versions where Hoster imported ZIP files into a KMA. |
Re: Hoster can't find HDZIP files
Dale,
I've had the same problem from time to time. I have to go back and re-import the song. The problem with that is, sometimes Hoster will not let me delete the old one. It stays in the database and causes problems. I have to find the one that works, and identify it somehow so I don't pick the bad file during a show! Why does Hoster not import them to a KMA file? |
Re: Hoster can't find HDZIP files
They only go "bad" if you move them or the KMH files.
The reason for not importing any file that is already compressed (MP3, MP3+G, WMA, WMA+G, ZIP, any Video files, etc) is for two reasons. One is Hoster does not try to recompressed already compressed files. The second was to keep you from needing two large copies of those files on your computer (the original and a KMA version) thus saving space on the computer and allowing you to use those files in other programs too. If you have moved the original files to a different location from the KMH file then Hoster will not be able to find them and will give you an error. Either put them back in the original location, or delete the KMH files and re-import from the new location. |

This is the first time this has happened to me. I did not touch the folder it was in, but got the error message anyway. I learned the hard way, a while back, to not move them "after" they've been imported. And, the song worked perfectly Thursday night... |
Re: Hoster can't find HDZIP files
Yes files on a hard drive can get corrupted if a drive has failing sectors. However the most common problem is usually that the files (original and KMH files) have been separated. Hard drives do not last forever. If you are losing files then what you need to do is run a thorough Checkdsk on the drive to make sure your files are not in failing areas.
The initial poster was not referring to one file at a time, but with all of his ZIP files. This tells me his problem is not failing files. |
