Select Data Source
Every time I run Hoster I get a dialog box "Select Data Source" which is prompting for a file data source or machine data source that "describes the driver that you wish to connect to." Cancel or OK causes a crash. Reopening Hoster often temporarily fixes things, but it's only temporary. I'm using 4.31, but it happened with the past couple of versions, too.

Re: Select Data Source
Can you attach a screen shot of this? This is a totally new problem that we have never seen.
What operating system are you using? |
Re: Select Data Source
Dale is right, this is a problem we have never seen before.
Did you make all the "Hoster REQUIRED changes for:" for your Windows at: http://www.mtu.com/upgrades/hoster.htm :? |
Re: Select Data Source
It seems that the issue was *probably* a Win7 update that snuck in under the radar and didn't self-install. Once I installed the outstanding updates I didn't have the problem again.
Weird how "automatically download and install all updates" doesn't actually *do* that. |
Re: Select Data Source
I am getting the same Data Source screen everytime I try to import a new file to Hoster. I am running XP Dell Inspiron 1525 with Hoster 4.32. What updates are recommended? Do I need to reload? This is a 2nd PC I am importing to. THanks. bugspappaw

Re: Select Data Source
I updated the windows XP patches (I did not update the microsoft office ones) and went back through my checklist. I have restarted at least 4 times, but I'm still getting the stupid window popping up. It won't let me import until I click cancel or 'x' out of the window. Should I reinstall my software? (4.32)

Re: Select Data Source
Try this:
Go to windows update, select "View update history" look down the list and see if any show a failed staus, if so make a note of the update name in brackets and see if that same update shows succesfull at a later date, if not go to: http://support.microsoft.com/fixit/ Then select windows from there then select windows update as one fix. As that may resolve the problem. If it is not an update problem then try: some of the other fixes like open desktop features or open program files, then I should run the first three selections that appear. You can try any of the other fixes also that you think may help. |
