I did manage to put 4.22 on the show laptop before the update period expired. I just never got around to putting it on the office machine until now. 4.22 has solved the lyrics sync issue so far but it appears to have traded lyrics in sync to intermittent stuttering audio and hanging search. Replace the old bugs with bright shiney new ones!

:?Nobody else has reported this problem. Sounds like you either need more RAM or need to update and/or do some maintenance on your machine. The only problem reported with 4.22 is with BA on under-powered computers.

I've had my share of problems also, but if you have had problems with ALL 4.xx releases:e, then it's definitely your machine. Many people have reported on this Forum that they are still using the older 4.x releases, and only having problems with 4.22 because it has so many new & great features that it simply requires more computer resourses that some of the older machines just don't have. Sorry, but I had to put in my 2cents.:c You'll see this to be true if you read all the past Posts on this Forum.

Also, 4.22 was "tweaked" for WIN 7 issues, after 4.21. You can also read what was done to each and every upgrade, which will explain it all to you in more detail.:t

The computer is used exclusively for Hoster. There are no third party programs on it. It is an ASUS M70VN-C1 with an Intel Core 2 Duo T9400 2.53 GHz processor and 4 GB RAM. It has a GeForce 9650M GT graphics adaptor, Windows Vista 64 Bit with all the updates including Direct X 11 and WMP 11.0.6002.18111. The C: Drive (OS and Programs) has 162 GB free (about 2/3) and the E: Drive (Data) has 170 GB of 600GB free. I know Hoster is bloated but I have a hard time believing that this machine is underpowered.

I only mentioned "under-powered" if you are having problems with BA, like running Visualizations. I did not say under-powered for running Hoster, nor running other programs. General "Maintenance" still needs to be done from time to time, like empty temp files, defrag, etc. I use myLaptop for Hoster ONLY also, and was having a few issues even after all the Updates. I never considered doing a Registry cleanup, like I do on my home computers. When I finally did, just the other day, it found over 100 errors in the Registry, which can be caused just by doing updates. Maybe that will solve your issues too:r P.S. don't forget there have been issues with 64bit that do not exist with 32bit. :)

Musicgeek I have moved this to a new thread to discuss these problems. I left you original post as it is relevant to that thread.

Obviously your computer has plenty of resources. So the question here is what is causing the stuttering and hanging search.
Can you tell us what you are doing when these problems occur?

Re: Problem with Hoster 4.22

My shows have changed over the last few years. Karaoke is no longer the main focus. The local bar scene has dropped karaoke professionals in favor of the cheaper alternatives. My main focus has become DJ with Karaoke as an option. Company picnics, private parties, car shows and (as much as I hate doing them) weddings have become the money gigs. I don’t use BA as I have individual playlists I draw on for each show. As I said, I had the lyrics sync issue since 4.0 came out. When 4.22 was released I had one weird issue with lyrics on the first song I played. The lyrics didn’t move for a couple seconds then sped up to be in sync. It has worked flawlessly since then. I had no problem with audio with 4.21 but as soon as I installed 4.22 the audio will stutter on random songs. I don’t know if it makes a difference but it hasn’t happened yet on karaoke songs only mp3’s. Playing the same song again may work just fine and it may stutter on a different one and the songs will play fine in WMP so I’m pretty sure it’s not a media issue. Additionally when using the search the “Add Track Database Search” window will often gray out and I get the “Not Responding” notice. If I leave it alone for 30 seconds to a minute it will eventually return to normal. Again, this is new to 4.22.

Re: Problem with Hoster 4.22

Are you doing anything like searching when you experience the stuttering?
Have you upgraded WMP and DirectX? Hoster is now set to use the latest versions of WMP and DirectX. This happened with 4.21 I think.
As far as the search, how many song files (all types) do you have in your songs database?
Are you opening Search each time you need to search or do you leave it open out of the way? The biggest problem with the search is the more it has to search through the slower it will go.
If you are searching for Audio songs to play, do you turn off the Karaoke and Video buttons. This would shorten the list for search.
The greying out is Search is not responding because it is looking for your request, so waiting for it to come back is probably the best way.
Cleaning up your files and defragging the hard drive may help and so would a registry cleaner. As Skybird said many updates from Microsoft leave a lot of registry errors. To fix these and other hidden problems try a system cleaning/fixing program.

I also have occasional audio stuttering on my ruggedized notebook (XP). I suspect it is caused by the audio drivers being a bit buggy. (These are the original drivers that came on the notebook) I have not yet made the time to try upgrading the drivers as I have been using my desktop system (XP) instead as it does not have this problem. I suspect it will take me a full weekend to tinker and test and I haven't had a free weekend yet.

Randy let me know if the drivers fix it.
