Adding songs to songbook...
 

Hello, I have an odd question that may be difficult to answer.

I have a complete pioneer laser disc library left over from the 90's and the music is fantastic. We still use them from time to time for songs not on normal cdg's or songs that don't sound as good.

My question is.....

Is there a way to add these songs to MTU database?

If not..

Is there a way to at least add them to the song book since they can't be imported?

I want to be able to add them to the songbook to let people know I have them. I noticed they are listed in the song database. (even though you can't import them)

Any help or suggestions are appreciated. Thank you in advance.

This way will only work from the local Database not the on line one.
Also it means importing tracks so using up space on your hard drive for tracks you don't want but it will add them to your songbook.
One way is to take any old CD+G disk as long as it has more tracks on it than the laser disk you are trying to import songs data from.
From the Import Songs Tab choose import CD tracks, load a cdg disk select Brand Pioneer then the original id. then search local data base.
If the data is in the data base it will fill with the songs and artists. You can fill in any of the other relevant boxes and select all then import selected tracks.
You can use the same cdg for the next one but these are just dummy tracks to get the info into your songbook.

When you have them all in it would be handy to save the .mbd file in access so that you have a permanent file that you could manipulate if you want to.

Other wise just use the print songbook features as normal to list them.

Just an idea that may help you.

If you want to go a stage further you can with the right software convert them to Video format and import them properly so they play as well.

Just adding to my previous post. If you select Songbook and then book ID range, choose just the range of pioneer disks you just imported, put in a title like "Pioneer Disks" then create then save this .rtf format file and just print these pages at the back of your book with these disks in, then go to edit multiple window and delete all these from Hoster database to recover your hard drive space in Hoster. Providing you keep the .rtf file you will always have a list of these songs.

Better than that here is a .CSV File you can load into excell with the complete pioneer Listings, edit to your liking.

Yes, this is still pertinent. I'm sure by now there are newer programs out there that will allow you to Convert your lasers to MPG/video format that may not take as long as it did 2 years ago. Either contact someone who has done it, or do a Search on the internet. If you have a lot of lasers that you would like to use, it will be worth the effort. I bought lasers that were already converted to MPG off the internet, plus I had a lot of VCDs.

Then, YES, you can "import videos" into Hoster's database & access them from Search just like any other song. That's the first thing I did when 4.0 came out & then re-print my books so that now ALL my videos are listed with all my CDGs. They are ALL now in Hoster & my Songbooks, so that I only have 1 place to look. :) I love the look on peoples' faces when they look in the book & see a DiskID# with "A" or "B" and they recognize the number as being from a Laser Disk that they sang with years ago.:)

Since Laserdiscs have to rely on their own player to be able to convert them in the first place, they would need to be played in a real time format. No speeding this process up.

I imagine Pioneer would have converted these to DVD and re-released them wouldn't they?? Laser discs were so expensive and dvds are so cheap, I don't know whether I could be bothered converting them. I still have quite a large collection of laser discs (not karaoke) - many cost me over $100:e You can buy the same movie on dvd today for a few bucks:e I guess there is the factor that they are all old hat by now - a bit like we all end up:r:t
