Songs database imports

Looking through the threads I found a message that said the ONLINE DB sends back if DiskID found artist in First name, Last Name. However the local DB returns artist in Last name, First Name.
What I am trying to figure out is why? What I am finding is that many DISK I have, specifically NUTech SAV-XX are coming up as invalid disk ID from the original purchased CDG. However the online DB returns the correct list of songs but has artist as mentioned earlier. Clicking the Local DB returns partial song listing with Artist reverses. LN, FN.
I am rebuilding my library with over 300 Disk and this whole process is confusing me a lot. Can anyone clear up how the process is suppose to work so as to keep the amount of information I have to enter at the very minimum. I really don't have a preference of artist name order just want it to be the same on all disk.

Re: Songs database imports

The online database is not controlled by MTU. It belongs to FreeDB. They determine the order of the names. The online db does not use the DiskID as we know it, but uses a unique ID that is hidden on the disk that you cannot see. That maybe why you are seeing them correct in the listing there and the internal is not.
The internal may contain first release information. It is not unheard of for companies to change what is on a disk when they re-release them.

With the savp series, try selecting Nikkodo as the brand instead of Nutech, then id. with the Local Database.
The online database rarely comes up in the right order.

Roy:

Thanks, that did the trick. The disk did not have that name anywhere on it, so I did not knwo that was the Manufacturer.

I think I read somewhere that Nikkodo were the originators of the SAVP series and Nuteck bought them out. Anyway glad I could help :)

Re: Songs database imports

The reason the MTU Import Database does LN, FN is the "comma"; it is used by our Songbook, Search, Edit Songs features to identify where the LN ends and the FN begins (called a field delimiter).

This allows the Songbook to generate Artist books alphabetized by either LN first, or FN first. Sometimes I wish we had never listened to those who want their books in LN first order as it adds a lot of work for us, and confuses sone users.

Having said that,if you want to be 100% compatible with MTU convention, then enter your Artists as LN, FN. :c

Also, please have your computer on-line when you identify these in the "Import HD files" or "Import CD tracks" screens. Then, your entries are sent to our website. We try to publish these monthly as an upgrade for our users.
