Building Song Database
 

Okay... I am really a novice with computer programs to start with. I am in the process of entering all of my CDGs onto an external hard drive. I had done 150 cdgs or so and then, in my hoster program, I hit "rebuild" songs database. When I looked at the external drive files I was rather taken aback to see that one .kma file for a cdg had gone wild. now instead of the 10 songs that should be listed with the CB60010 file there are about 50 or better (some have a number in parantheses i.e. (240) along with the .kma info. Did I screw up by hitting rebuild? perhaps I should have hit the "add songs" option? Guess I need to go into my hard drive files and delete all the duplicates and then what should I do???

The question is how did you import them? DId you import from disks or from the hard drive? Single or Batch mode? Did you change the Brand and DiskID for each one?
You should not have to Rebuild after importing anyway as when you import they are automatically added to the songs database?
Give us a more detailed account of exactly what you did.

Hi Dale: thank you for your response! I have been importing them from individual CDGs. I hopefully have been changing the ID info on each disk!! :r God only know.... I do have distractions along the way. Anyway, I went to my library on the external drive and deleted all of those files. Now do I have to rebuild my songbook data base??

At this point yes it would be a good idea. that way it romoves them from the database.
When you re-import them, make sure you put in each individual DiskID.

Hey. I'm a novice to this forum, but kind of have the same issue. I was using an external hard drive which housed my KMA and KMH files. THe drive started having problems, (it kept shutting down when I was in Hoster especially when I accessed anything other than 'play' the song) so I have been re-creating my KMH files on another hard drive within it's subfolders. Should I have just dragged and dropped the old files over to the new drive and not re-create them since the KMH files reside within the folders? If so, I can do that with the files I haven't loaded yet. Would these then rebuild the song database when I run it?

I already moved my KMA files over to it . Now my song database has grown by thousands, and has duplicates. Do I manually go into the song database and delete the files with the other hard drive node (g:/) and leave the (f:/) files which is the new hard drive? Will the files I moved append the new drive to their file name and update the database? What about the songbook?

Help! I need a lesson on how to do the process quick. I can't find out how to start a new thread, either, so I had to piggyback on this one.

First is how did you recreate the KMH files?
Did you Copy and Paste or re-Import them?
If you re-imported them go to the folder and delete all of those. Copy and Paste all of the original files including the KMH files and the original format song files (MP3+G, ZIP, whatever they were).
Next remove the old external from the system. Then Rebuild the database again. Be sure to delete the entry in the list for the old drive and make sure the new drive folders where your KMA and KMH files are located are listed too. Then Rebuild the database. That should clear it up.
