corrupted kma files
Recently had the most embarrasing moment when one of my kma files did not play correctly during a show. Needless to say, I would like to correct any future occurances of this if the future. Question: Is there a way to verify that all my files are good without needing to go thru all of them manually?

Re: corrupted kma files
Not that I know of.
I would run checkdisk on the drive though just to make sure the drive isn't having problems if you get any more of them. If computer's didn't have glitches sometimes then life would be dull :g |
Re: corrupted kma files
So you don't know of any progam to check these files is that right?

Re: corrupted kma files
Happens to me on occasion, too. Click on the song, enter it into the playlist. Hit go and get "Error". I don't think you can find them without going one by one.....

Re: corrupted kma files
Well, it sure would be nice to have a quick run edit program verify the files. Something you could do on a regular basis. Maybe MTU could come up with a little utility program to do this. I cerntainly would buy it!!!

Re: corrupted kma files
Just wondering exactly what you mean by not play correctly?
Did it error out or was it just throwing junk on the screen? |
Re: corrupted kma files
Mine just don't play, and change the "cue" to "Error". Can't play them in the Edit Songs app, either.

Re: corrupted kma files
I get both from time to time. Not sure why, but with 29000 songs, I just can't go thru them to verify their condition.

Re: corrupted kma files
try what i am suggesting, when you get these errors, closed hoster for a minute then open it back up,wait for the Hoster logo to come up, then click on the songs that youre getting the error msg..

Re: corrupted kma files
I talked to Admin today about this. There is nothing that can be done to check those which have the glitches on screen. Those are usually coming from the disk and even though Hoster can work miracles with scratched/dirty disks it can't stop all of them. We some that just won't import totally clean. Some of that just has to be lived with or get a new disk to replace the bad one. This could also be corruption of the file, though I can't say I have seen any that I can blame on that.
However, if it is a case of it erroring out and jumping to the next song then this would be a header problem. What he said was that it may be possible for them to add a utility to the Edit to go through and check/correct bad headers. This way you could check for any of these problems. Only thing I can say for the screen problems is to apologize to the singer explaining that you will try to get it corrected for next time, then re-import them as you find them. I would highly recommend too that you periodically run the thorough Checkdsk to make sure the drive isn't having problems. |
Re: corrupted kma files
The edit check on the header info would certainly identify files that won't play. I have had some which play but nothing shows up on the screen and I have had some which start playing and just stop (usually right at the beginning). So if checkin the header info will catch bad files, I'm all for it.
