MTU.Community - New computer old hard drive

I can't find this problem in the forum so... We had two computers fail within a month of each other. My laptop had Hoster 4.08 on it as a backup for our performance laptop. I purchased a USB enclosure for the old laptop's hard drive to try to salvage some files. Hoster was not one of them... but I still have the 4.08 "upgrade" install program on the drive. Without Hoster though, the upgrade does nothing. I keep getting the "...already loaded twice... run install and choose uninstall... etc." I don't have the program to uninstall on the drive anymore. I need to know how to get mtu to know that I need the second install released on the website so I can download the original program (3.10 I think) and then use the upgrade program I have to take it up to 4.08. Now our performance laptop is making wierd noises so this has become a more important issue than it was a week ago...
