New Laptop does not have S-Video Out
Just bought new HP Pavilian laptop and ran into first problem when trying to connect to video monitor. I have always use S video or composit cables connections in the past but now find only HDMI or a external monitor port which I have never used before. HDMI cables are expensive and combersome and I don't know what cable I would use for the external monitor port. Does anybody have a simple way to connect to a monitor?

Re: New Laptop does not have S-Video or VGA out
My new laptop does not have VGA out, it only has HDMI.
I have followed many of the links in this formum, but I still haven't found a solution to convert HDMI to RCA (R/Y/W). I can find cables (HDMI to RCA) but my understanding is that the signal will need to be converted - so I need a converter, not just a cable. I can find converters for RCA (input) to HDMI (output) The converter that MTU sells is for VGA input only - not HDMI. Help? Advice, solution? or if my thinking is flawed, please correct. Thank you! |

Re: New Laptop does not have S-Video Out
Type in a google search HDMI converter. Not sure exactly what you are trying to convert to, but a simple solution are HDMI to component RCA (RED/GREEN/BLUE) with the RCA audio. I saw those on Amazon for $12.
However I am not sure, but have been told the HDMI signal does not act as an extended desktop - I may be mistaking this from something else. |
