Video Display issue Hoster 4.11
 

Hi all just purchased another computer, a Acer all in one unit a Z5610, as it has no second monitor out so i purchased a iogear usb to vga adapter that supports 32bit 1024 x 768 res. All works fine with graphics but will not put video on second monitor just shows black background and the music will play. If I play a insta file and select a video all works fine and plays in perfect sync with the music and is on full display on my second monitor and on preview display. I can also play videos using windows media player and i am able to drag the video display on to the second monitor. I am using windows 7 home premium intel core duo 2.93 e7500, ati hd4570 with 512 dedicated. UAC is disabled all the last updates for windows, acer and iogear
4 gid of ddr3.
It would be a great machine to flight case and take out as its touch screen and very quick. If i can just sort the video part out.

Have you tried Tools/options/ Reset displays button ? Then drag and resize.

I think Roy has it right. Dragging the corners to the edges will keep it out of full screen mode. Even though the video is the same size, Windows treats it differently if you are not in full screen mode. Full screen is what you get when you double click.

It does not disply video on the second monitor at all, just the window with a black screen, works fine when playing through insta button even when double clicked to enable full screen, works fine using media player, it has got to be a issue with hoster not dispaying video through a second VGA port.

We have seen this before in here, and I believe it is a problem with the video drivers. Did you happen to upgrade those as well?
Believe me it is not a Hoster problem as no one else has asked about this and there seems to be plenty of users switching to Windows 7.
Just out of curiosity does your laptop have an HDMI output? This is a small connector that is very easy to miss.
What is your resolution set to on the computer monitor?

I have been looking at the spec for this on the web search. It only seems to have USB and Audio outputs from my research.
Does the graphics card support dual display ? I can not see any mention of it.

Hi ddouglass, it's not a laptop it's a all in one with a 23" screen, there is no extra output for video/vga/or hdmi on this unit, which is why i bought a usb to VGA adapter.
What i can't understand if i use the insta button to load the mpeg everything works fine so it can't be a hardware problem or a driver problem, but if i use the video button in hoster to load the video then it will not display the video on the singers screen no matter what size window i use or or what resoloution or bit setting.
I can use windows media player and that works fine playing the mpegs on the second screen.
KMA files all work ok.
I remember have the same probs on a sony vaio laptop which only had a vga out around version 3.3 but that laptop has long gone.

you probably need to get a usb powered pc to tv converter that has vga/s-video and rca output

yes thought about that, but why will one part of hoster play it, (insta) and the main part not, its go to be the way the hoster is written, it's not the end of the world as this is the house computer, but the bit is between my teeth and I know it will be late nights untill it's sorted.

Sorry about that. I didn't look up the unit until after I wrote that. I don't know why it isn't showing the videos but I know plenty of people are using Windows 7 and not having a problem, so that pretty much rules out Hoster's code.
Any video for both Instabuttons and playlist use WMP to display them in the box and using the Video Display settings.

thanks for the reply gents, head scratcher, cant help thinking though it's the way the program is written as it uses far less processing power to play a video in hoster from the video button, than from the insta button or windows media player.

Yes, it definitely uses less resources when you play from the Playlist than from an Instabutton. There is a bit of difference, for one thing the preview doesn't show video from the Playlist but it does from an Instabutton. Having said that though others with windows 7 aren't having the same problem.

The only other thing I can think of that may help is, have you installed the K-light codec pack ?

I have found with other software on my computer that although things run in windows media player they would not run in some other programs but by making adjustments in the codec pack I was, able to get them going.

down loaded, k lite and intalled, made matters worse stopped playing graphics on second screen. did restore back to begining and re installed hoster lite full version and tried again. with singers display docked in 1st screen play a mpeg video file all playes ok, whilst i play it if a try to drag it to the second screen as soon as it gets to the second screen video will pause and the music carry on, drag it back and video will resume. play the very same video through insta button and it will play on both displays no probs. I think i will try a VGA to s-video cable and see if that makes a differance.
