any suggestions welcome

I'm adding a second laptop and purchased hoster 4.09 for the new one.
It's a Compaq running Vista. I copied my 57g song folder from my old XP laptop to a USB seagate HD and added the folder to my new computer. as long as I leave the Seagate USB Hd connected the program will function normally, when I remove the USB HD and search for a song it tells me it can not locate it on the hard drive. Can anyone give me a suggestion on how to make it work without the external HD.

As long as the KMA files are on the USB drive that will have to remain plugged in to work. The only way to change that would be to copy all the files from there onto the laptop hard drive, then rebuild database pointing it to the new folder on the laptop.

the only way it will work is to have all your songs in the int. drive, if your kma files are in an ext. drive, and it's not plugged theres no way for hoster to find your songs

First of all have you copied the folder from your usb drive to your C/ drive ?

If you have then you have use the Tools rebuild data base option, you must have rebuilt it to your usb drive, you need to remove that folder from the rebuild database option and then use the Add option and brows to your new C/ drive folder. Then press the rebuild songs database button.

Roy.

I'll try that now, it'll take about 35 minutes
I hope it works
Where can I get all the info on making Hoster work with Vista?

In the manual there is a link to the webpage for setup on Vista.

All songs should show up in the search window. It's only when you try to add it to the playlist that it should give you a message about not being able to locate it.
