Sound Effects Using Instabuttons

I downloaded some of the sound effects posted in the "sticky" for use with the instabuttons. The "crank it up" file works fine. All of the others work in Windows Media but when I use them in Hoster as an instabutton they don't work. When I look at the file in Windows Explorer it shows a time duration of 22 seconds for example. When I add this same file through Hoster as an instabutton, it shows a duration of 0. This is why it won't play but I can't figure out why this is happening. Any ideas?

They appear to require a license which means we have to buy them and legally own them.

Not quite true Bryant. They may have be free but since they were used on George's computer in WMP then WMP has added a DRM tag that will not allow any other program to play the file.

Well i tried guys...sorry they won't work. I have a certificate in each CD, with the date, permission rights and so on. I basically own these by how i read it. But anyway...like i said, i tried. I must have paid for the usage rights at purchase. I didn't see the fine print on your post either. Sorry

They don't require anything, i did buy them, and do legally own them. Like i said, i tried....:)

By buying them you have paid the required licensing fee. However you cannot give copies to anyone else. You do not "own" the files. You have the right to use them as prescribed in the license agreement. The same goes for any software you purchase.

If it is a licensing issue, why do they play on Window Media and not in Hoster. As I stated, when loaded into Hoster they won't play because they show 0 duration. I don't get it. :?

Walt

The license issue showed up when I try to play them in Media player on my Vista laptop.

Roy.

Dale,

The same problem occurs when using "Dale's Microphone Test". I assume there is no licensing issue with this file or am I wrong. When I load this file into Hoster, It shows a duration of 1 sec but it won't play. :e

All the ones George posted there were the same and from the same discs. I have deleted them from the thread so no one else can download them. Delete them as you can not legally or actually use them. Sorry guys I didn't catch this sooner.

Nothing was ever posted in it that worked or was legal so we deleted it. Your talking about a thread that was two years ago.

Re: Sound Effects Using Instabuttons

Walt, you also have to make sure they are wav files. Other types of files won't work.
