4.06 4.09 slow to load

Can anyone tell me why Hoster is slow to load? I have v4.06 (Windows Vista Home Premium, Dual Core 1.8Ghz Processor, 2Gb RAM). I had put it down to Vista, until my brother told me last week that he had recently upgraded to v4.09 from v3.21a (Windows XP) and now was having the same problem:f.

COLANG, Please be a little more specific what you mean by "slow to load"... are your talking about the time it takes the program to boot up, after clicking on the icon? And how long does it take your program to boot up, if that is indeed what you are talking about? A little more detail will help us troubleshoot your problem...:)

slow boot up

Yes, I mean slow to boot up! It probably takes at least a minute for the Hoster window to open & then about another 30 seconds before it will respond to any mouse clicks (e.g. selecting a song)

OK, Open your Windows Task Manager ( CTRL-ALT-DEL ) first, and then open Hoster and see what your cpu is doing before Hoster opens... sometimes a background process is fighting Hoster for cpu processing services ( like an antivirus program ), and they are both trying to do their startup checks, and thus it appears that the Hoster is booting up slower, due to how many of these other processes are hogging the cpu available servicing capability... let us know what task manager shows, upon booting up!

Many people have reported problems with AVG anti-virus program causing slowdowns and I am sure some of the others will too.
You do need to keep in mind there is a whole lot more to Hoster 4.XX than 3.321 had. Many new features have been added and require initialization before the program is ready to use. Version 3.321 installer was 14MB and 4.09d installer is up to 18MB. That is a big difference in what is contained in the program. All that additional program means Hoster is going to take a bit longer to get set up.
Another thing you can do is to defragment your hard drives. This will usually help with the speed. The more fragmentation the longer it takes to transfer from the drive to the memory.
