Video Help
Hi,
I have a DuraBook D14RYE, Kworld VGA to TV converter and an RF adapter. Everything was working ok, now I have gone through 4 converters and 4 RF adapters and no video. I do not have s-video. I do have VGA can I bypass the converter with a VGA-SVideo ot VGA-RCA and use just the RF adapter. All the TV's are older. Thank you:? |

LuanaR, Click on the link above... And learn from my bad experience by reading the product introduction to understand what you are asking a little better! I purchased one of these adapter cables ( VGA to RCA or S-Video ) locally ( 60 miles away ) a few years ago for my vga only laptop. When I found out my laptops video card didn't support the tv out from vga capability, I didn't return it, because it wasn't worth a special trip to get a refund of $14.95 + tax. I eventually found this website ( monoprice.com ) and have ordered their converter, and find it's size and ease of use, to be very good, and at about a third of the price of the Radio Shack Gigaware version that I had to return, after a couple of fruitless hours trying to make it work, and since it was a resealed box (only one left), I couldn't try another one to see if I had a broken unit, or was just not following it's sparse and unclear instructions to make it perform! So your question here might save you the time and expense, of trying a cable adapter, instead of a converter, if your laptop's video card will not support the tv out, through the vga connection...:s |

Hi,
Wow. Again I am not sure where to start. Video is Mobile Intel(R)945 express chipset family. I connect the vga to computer and converter vga out I also connect the svideo or(and) rca from converter to rf adapter and connect the coaxal from rf to tv. I live very rural so If I can find what I am looking for may be a trip of over 3hr drive. I have already purchased vga to tv converter and rf adapters and I can not seem to get them working. I am confused and don't know where to go from here. Thank You |

Does your T.V. have an S-video jack, or a Video In jack ( Yellow color ), or are they only capable of hooking up through the antenna ? |
Hi,
Yes, the 2 monitor is in extended mode. no on the svideo and rca to the tv just coax. I had it working until everything was shut down for the night. When I turned everything on I had no video and still don't. Thank You |
Has your external monitor got any inputs other than coaxial ?
if it has a scart socket you can plug a scart adapter with composit video in. I should think if you are using a coaxial you must have to tune the TV to the frequency of your adapter. Have a look at the video on this site. http://www.svideo.com/pctvez.html |

I'm thinking you may have a bad connection ( cable, adaptor, plug ), if you have tried 4 different vga converters, and 4 different rf converters/adaptors, then I would suspect a bad cable ( coax, rca, vga, etc ), but you may also have a port that is suddenly not working...and gone bad! Start with changing out your coax cable for a different one, then a vga cable, then any other wiring connection ( I once had a wire break in the plug end of a coax cable, and trouble shot everything else, knowing that the cable was fine the night before:s) that is in the video chain to the 2nd monitor. |
I am sorry in advance if this is a dumb response but try checking the channel on the tv and make sure it is on the correct one. I think it should be either 3 or 4. :)

go to www.monoprice.com and get the pc to tv video converter ( KLV2000) for $26.00,cheaper that what i used to used ( Maxview pc to tv converter ) with my old laptop( Dell insp. 1000) that has no s-video out , just had a vga, and make sure your tv/monitor is turned on first before powering up your pc
