Test Drive

I have a drive error on m laptop. All of a sudden when I try to start hoster a screen comes up that I have an 'untested drive' and want me to test now. Will not let me close window. Problem is I only have one drive setup and it shows OK. The drive it wants me to test does not exist. Will not let me press the test now button that is blinking becaused it is a faded gray color. What the heck do I do? I have to run shows on 3.4. I even hooked up the external drive that I bought from MTU, It test OK in the third spot with the second spot still blinking on a make believe drive.:? The only way for me to get out of this screen is to use Task Manager to end program.

Just a suggestion, try reinstalling but tick the check box in one of the install screens to clear existing settings. this will not cause you to lose any playlists or songs but will require setting up things like show screen and other preferances. It might clear what ever is in the memory with your drive settings.

Roy.

Is this on Vista? I ask because the phantom drive may be a virtual drive set-up through another program (Slysoft CloneDVD, CloneCD, etc.). I am not sure just how to turn this off short of removing the program as I don't use Vista but I am sure you can research and find it.
Re-installing Hoster will not help as the problem is not in Hoster.

Dale, Yes it is on Vista. I forgot that I changed my signature and it no longer states Vista (sorry). I have made no changes from the last time Hoster worked correctly until the message screen. I do have CloneCD on this system but it has always been there. I will reinstall Hoster to see if that corrects the problem, and Roy, Thanks for info on clear existing settings. I was afraid I'd lose playlist and singer lists.

Make sure CloneCD hasn't created a virtual drive. I state again re-installing Hoster is not going to fix this. The additional drive had to have been created from another program.

OK Dale, Thanks.:) I will look for how the virtual drive was created.

Thanks Dale, I went into Device Manager and disabled the virtual drive and everything works great again. Who would have thunk it.:?
