Hoster or windows losing kma's
I have hoster 3.321 and I have just noticed that some of my songs have mysteriously gone MIA? Is this the same problem that was ocurring with earlier versions? :?How do I fix this?
|
I have not heard of anyone losing songs since 3.18 or 3.19.
Are you using Vista? If so make sure the UAC has not been turned back on by a Microsoft update. Is it Hoster doesn't find the songs when you try to play them or are they also missing from your songs database when you search for them? |

I have XP. When I search for the song, it doesn't come up. I have tried several different searches: title, artist, disc id...
|
on my search I keep the title, artist, diskid, and bookid always on (green button) and the rest off (grey button). If you leave Duet or Mux on then the search will be only for songs that are Muxed or are Duets. This will limit your search and prevent you from finding what you are looking for.
Are all you KMA files in one location? Do you know how many you are supposed to have and are they all there physically in the folder? |
I think I got it figured. User error!! Never said I know what I'm doing! Thanks guys!

I believe we removed the persistence on Mux and Duet so you must click them every time you run the Search dialog... AND you want to search only for these file types. That way once you close the dialog, we clear both of these if you have clicked them.

However, 4.10 will have these changes for the Search dialog: 1. We will remove persistence on Mux and Duet 2. We will change the background color for these from green to red 3. We will consider adding "popup balloon messages" for each, warning that these ONLY show files with the Mux or Duet flags set; no other songs will be found when searched. We ARE concerned with "pilot error" and do everything to prevent you from not having to memorize the manual to use a function. :w |

Now, before you ask, everything is up to date, use the program as stated above, This has happened many times over the years. May be user problem, don't know, but don't have the time to solve the problem. My question is this, how many others has this happened to and what did you do. My problem is not user error, pretty sure of this, but just asking others if this has happened to you. muzicman144:c:c:c |

I've used Hoster for 6 years and have never had happen what you describe. I did have the database get corrupted once requireing me to rebuild ( I forgot I could just switch to the backup database). Otherwise have never lost any songs. Sam |

As Sam said we have been doing karaoke with Hoster for many years and have never lost a song. Had database corrupt one time and not been able to find a song through my mis-typing in Search, but never lost a file yet. |

I haven't ever lost a song either. I have had some not play correctly from time to time, but never lost one.
|
i have never lost a song either, the only thing i remember was that, i know i have the song in my hhd, it's just when i do a search, i used to get an error msg. " not in database" or something to that effect, i just do a rebuild and everything went fine..

I don't think it is a Hoster related thing. My show computer would lose a song, I would even search the database via hard drive database and couldn't find it. I would reload from Disk and no problem. This is on 3.21. My back up computer is stable, which i now use as show is Lite4.06, the latest upgrade. THis hasnt occurred lately, but for a while it was regularly. But all is good, I'll check the latest backup computer regularly and see if any songs are left and let you know. Thanks. Most likely user error here anyway. Muzicman144:c:c:c |

i would like to upgrade to 4.09d it's just playing/seeing the video ( vcd ) on the singers screen feature is preventing me from doing it..

Initially I had kma files all over my hardrives on a couple of different computers, and a couple of different external hardrives ( I used Western Digital Externals that all looked alike ), and didn't know enough to group them in one location, to make it easier for Hoster to find kma's when rebuilding database... and have never lost any songs, without "pilot error"...:w Rick Rikki Tikki Karaoke |

Been using MTU for years, as I have stated many times, any problem i have had was user errror. Greatest music software i have ever seen. I do a one man show so any error that causes delay is disasterous to me. If i still used the first Hoster program i bought, it would still completely satisfy all my music show needs. Thx MTU Muzicman144:g:g:g |
