Your sound effects you will have to buy on-line or find some free ones. They can be wav, mp3, or wma audio files.
Hoster does not have a way to play music in between karaoke songs automatically. However you can set the program to Auto play instead of manual and add audio files in between your karaoke songs.

To have music playing between karaoke songs in a manner that seems automatic, buy and MP3 palyer, load it up with songs and run it through a seperate channel on your mixing board. Set the palyer to shuffle and let it run through the whole show turning it up on the mixing board when you want to hear the music and turning it down (off) when you have a singer singing karaoke. This is how I do it when I doing my acoustic act and it works great. Be sure the MP3 player has a full charge before every show. :w

I hope this helps

JNS02 April 21st, 2009 05:25 PM

Beavis, He wanted to know how to do both. Madjim just answered one.

Freddie,
Once you have your sound effect on your hard drive go to Tools > Instabuttons and set them up in Hoster. The instructions on how to set up your Instabuttons are in the Hoster Manual under Menus & Commands > Instabuttons.

I hope this helps.

a friend of mine brings in her back-up laptop and she plays music in between songs using itunes ,and she just fades it out when the next singer gets on the stage, works good ...

Freddy, there are not very many free sound effect sites that i know of. Many years ago, when i was doing some production work for a college radio station. I went and purchased a few sound effect CD's. I still use these today. I use both of Dan O'Day's Dork-A-Pellas Volume 1 & 2. By U.S. Air Force Productions. Also i use All 3 of the "Cheap Radio Thrills" collection. And also the "Muscle Shoals Magic" Production Library. I also between singers play retro radio commercials, and old telivision theme songs. I open the evening, and introduce myself to the "Bugs Bunny Overture" makes for a fun evening, and never any "dead air" between singers. I use a Pioneer front loader for my sound effect cd's. All of the disc i have mentioned are 100% Royalty Free. The tel for U.S. Air Force Productions is 1-310-476-8111. These sell for around $100 a CD. George

freddie, here are a couple of my favorites that i use at my shows.

http://www.supload.com/sound_confirm.php?get=128429885.wma

http://www.supload.com/sound_confirm.php?get=1185954264.wma

http://www.supload.com/sound_confirm.php?get=159920000.wma

http://www.supload.com/sound_confirm.php?get=810031771.wma

My only advice, is like anything else. These are meant to be a tool for your show. Easy does it, and always use in good taste. A night doesn't go by, that a singers wife, or husband doesn't thank me for making their time at karaoke a little more enjoyable. Too often we forget about the spouses of those that don't sing. My job is also that of entertainer. I for one, just hate filler music. But this is fun for everyone. I also give away tee shirts, CD's, and other goodies at my shows. Just some ideas. Great advertisment. George:)

Hey Dale,
I checked them out earlier today. They are links to pages where a person can download wma copies of some of his sound effects. The wma's are protected. I had to download a license just to listen to them in Windows Media Player. I also tired to convert them using songverter but to no avail. The protection sceme prevents them from being copied.

Could you add them to your Hoster Instabuttons?

madjim- with the Lord April 23rd, 2009 04:29 PM

That's why I tried to convert them. No I did not try to load the wma files into the instabuttons. I didn't want to mess with the Windows Media protection sceme. It was all just a test. :w

I put those on that hosting site. They are not available on any web site. I wrote in the post i made where they come from. And the producers name and phone number. I did not download these off the web. George
