microstudio and hoster

Can I use songs I have in hoster with microstudio to create my own personal compilation disks?:?

madjim- with the Lord April 1st, 2009 02:36 PM

Absolutely! You can take any of your KMA files and burn them to a disc in any order you wish. Do you have a copy of Microstudio?

I downloaded the demo to see if i would need a new burner and tried to get songs off of hoster, but i couldn't find them. I am a computer moron and just do my best. If you could give me any help or advise i would really appreciate it.

No problem. First open Microstudio. In the "Karaoke" section, the "Files" button should be selected (It will be green). If not slecet the "Files" button in the "Karaoke" section of the program. In the "My Songs" section of the program you will see a browse button. Click on "Browse" and select the folder where you keep your KMA files (your Hoster songs). When you do this the program will take a minute or so to load all of your KMA files into Microstudio.

Find the songs you want to burn to a disc and move them to the playlist on the right. Once you have all of your songs in the playlist in the order you want them in, hit the "Add to Write List" button. Now click on "Write Disc" and you're ready to go.

In the demo it will only record part of the song. :w

I hope this gets you going.

you have to re-import them on microstudio and add the songs you wanted on a playlist , then burn it to a cd ..but just like Jim said w/o the full version of microstudio, you can only play a portion of the songs using the demo..

lslade April 1st, 2009 07:23 PM

all right, thanks! will give it a go

These "songs i imported directly to hoster from disks", did you import them through the Import Files > Import CD Tracks window of Hoster?

Hang in there, well have you going in a few minutes I'm sure.

Yes I did.

You do not have to re-import them to use them in Microstudio. Open Hoster click on Tools/Songs Database. Then click on Rebuild (your not going to rebuild, just look). In the top section it shows the path where your KMA files are located. Write the path down. Click on Close. This will get you out of the Rebuild without actually doing the rebuild.
Open Microstudio and Browse to the folder listed in Hoster. Depending on how many songs you have it may take a few minutes for it to list them all. From that list choose which songs you want to write to a CD and add them to the playlist to the right. In the playlist click on the first song in the list, hold down the shift key and click on the last song, then click on the Add to Write List button. Then open the Write Disc screen and you will see the list there.
Keep in mind that a CD will only hold 80 minutes worth of music so don't try to add too many songs.

lslade April 1st, 2009 07:52 PM

ok tried that and it only brought up 50 songs out of about 3000

madjim- with the Lord April 1st, 2009 08:17 PM

That tells me that you have your KMA files in different folders.

Use Windows Search (Start > Search > All files and folders) and type in "*.kma". This will tell you where every KMA file is located.

Once you identify the folders your KMA files are in you can:
A. Find the folder that has the files you want to copy in it, use the browse button in Microstudio and select this folder or
B. Put all of your KMA in one folder, go to Hoster > Tools > Songs Database > Rebuild, and rebuild your database. Be sure to select the folder you put all of your KMA files in and delete the other folders. This is how I do it. :w

I hope this gets you one step closer.

Then you have another folder that has song files in it. Repeat what I told you and write down all the folder paths.

Does the demo limit the amount? Maybe thats why only 50 came up. I don't know as I have the full program and never tried the demo.

This is a good point and makes sense since it is a demo with restrictions, but I'm not sure. I also have never used the demo. :t :s One thing, if this is the case I would think Dale would have mentioned it. :r

Have you tried to burn a disc using the some of the 50 KMA files that came up? Being you are using the demo they won't be complete songs anyway so give it a try and see if your burner works.

Actually, after i made the comment about it only finding 50 songs, i noticed on the pop up that it does say it will only hold 50. But thank you all for your help. I guess the next step is to buy the complete microstudio. Thanks again!!:w

madjim- with the Lord April 2nd, 2009 01:54 PM

It's well worth the investment. I'm sure you'll enjoy the porgram. Thanks for being patient with everybody. Have a great day! :)
