Importing cdg's
I've been using an external hard drive. I recently purchased two new cdg's. Clicked on import cd's. Clicked on save to. Clicked on E drive then clicked Music. This is where all my songs are. In the save to box E:/music came up as should. When I went to import cdg. this message came up. The import drive & folder doesn't exist. Please define a new save folder. It will import to C drive but, I don't want them there.
did your drive letter change ? was it D: before ?
No it's always been "E"
did you rebuild your database ?
Yes
did you unplug and replug the external and shut off and restart it ?
Yes, rebooted computer and everything. I do have some songs on C drive because I do sound for several vocal groups. When I rebuilt my database I lost all those songs on C drive and had to put them back in. When I do karaoke shows both C and E work hand in hand. I think that's great. What if I were to type in E:/karaoke in the save to box? Then I would have two folders E:/music and E:/karaoke. That just does'nt seem right. I'd prefer to have just the one folder.

are you sure you can navigate through explorer in the E: drive
Open my computer.
were it shows your external hard drive what letter does it show ? If it is any letter other than E then follow the leads in this post #8 thread. http://forum.mtu.com/showthread.php?...t=drive+letter It is much the same weather it is XP or Vista. Roy. |
When I go to my computer E drive is there. Here is a thought. Maybe it's my cd/dvd drive that is not recognizing the external drive. Is there a process to go throught to get this to happen.
its there but double click it and see if windows will navigate around in it.
I'm not sure what your telling me. When I double click E drive all my songs that are there come up. What I did was import the two new cdg's to C drive. Double clicked C went to programs, MTU, Hoster, Songs. Highlighted the new songs and then clicked on move these to E:/music. Then rebuilt my database and there they were. I'm just saying I don't think I should have to go through that whole process just to add a few songs to my library.

If refer to the beginning of these posts you'll see that's what I originally did. That's when I got the message "The import drive & folder doesn't exist. Please define a new save folder.
My mistake, I was basing my post on post # 12.
What version of Hoster are you using. Does it do the same thing if you do it through 3.4 (assuming you have 4.xx). |
I'm using 4.06. I really think possibly, that my cd/dvd drive is what's not recognizing E drive. I don't know how to make this happen
Teddy,
There is no "recognition" between the drives. The computer processor handles all the reading, compressing and saving. Quote:
So when you go to Save To in the Import screen set it to E:\. |
I did just that also and got the same message.
Are you running XP or Vista?
In My Computer find the E:\ drive and right click on it. When the dialog opens go to properties and left click. When that dialog box opens look down at the bottom and see if it is mark as Read Only or Hidden. If either are checked then uncheck them. |
Thanks, I will check that thursday. I have to go to work now. But, I'm sure your on to something. The last few times I wanted to defrag this hard drive. It said that it couldn't because it was a read only. What ever I did to cause that I don't know. Thank you very much.
