Can't Cancel Operation

I'm updating a lot of files from song edit under tools and wanted to stop updating so I pressed cansel nothing happen then I pressed the x at the corner and nothing happen I tried several times.

Is this the way it suppose to work once you start the process you can't stop it?

Joe your in the wrong forum. Anyway if you are doing a large group (Multiple selections) then yes you have to wait until it finishes updating all the KMA files you selected. The bigger the group the longer it takes because it has to open each file, replace the data, save the file and close it. If that isn't it then you may have to close it (and Hoster) with Task Manager if it is hung, but I would wait a while to see if it finishes.

1. I'm updating a lot of files from song edit under tools and wanted to stop updating so I pressed cansel nothing happen then I pressed the x at the corner and nothing happen I tried several times.

Is this the way it suppose to work once you start the process you can't stop it?

2. If there is a problem with any file while this process is running there should be at least an error text file written indicating what files where in error.

3. Right now there's no way I could know what went wrong with what file or what I could do to fix it, this is not good.

4. There should be an option under Language and Genre Not To Update if you Don't need to.

5. If you are updating 100 files with 3 Languages and 10 Genres you are forced to process that operation 10 times to get through that batch where as if you had the option then the process is one operation to complete times 1000's of files it will get very time consuming.

5. Would appreciate feedback on this.

All my drives are pluged in and working properly.

Hoster 4.6a Xp os

I don't know. I don't think I have ever tried to stop it after starting a multiple select process.

The error window tells you any of the possible causes and the process does not continue after finding an error. That would mean it stops as soon as it encounters as error so no list of files is needed.
Did you check to see if any of the files were Read Only which is one of the possible causes listed? As long as all the drive possibilities are correct then that is the only possibility. If you copied the files from CDs then they are automatically set as Read Only by Windows.

I don't understand what you are asking. If it doesn't need updating then why are you selecting it?

I don't understand this one either. You can only choose a group and change the setting for that group to one Genre and/or one language at a time. There isn't any way for it to know what to set where if you are wanting to change multiple Genre/Language. You couldn't even do this in Access.

Hi dale

I'm going out to dinner now, but when I get back I will explain what's the issue is and why it needs addressing.

Thanks your doing a great service for the forum and MTU.
