MP3's not playing

For some odd reason when I upgraded to 4.06 I hit the music tab to import a song into hoster off of an external drive it will load but won't play? I am using windows xp. Whats up anyone have the same issues?

Are you getting an error message or just no audio?

MrMark January 11th, 2009 10:47 AM

No error no audio/it loads but don't play....I'm stumped on this one, But when I do my instant buttons the (wave files) play fine.

Can you play them in WMP?
When you play them in Hoster does the time counter tick down as if it is playing?

MrMark January 11th, 2009 12:17 PM

I can play them in WMP I also use MixMeister But I also like to play them in Hoster and no it doesnt count down.

Does it change from Ready to Error in the status block?
What I think may be the problem is that they are recorded at a Bit Rate Hoster cannot use. The standard bit rate is 128 bps. I know that MadJim had some problems with this and figured out the ones that wouldn't play were recorded at 320 bps. They would actually make his computer blue screen.

DDouglas

They worked fine until I upgraded to 4.06 and thy are recorded at 128. in the older versions I could just go to my drive and load them with no problem.

Hey Mark,
Do your MP3's run in Hoster 3.40?

Jim :g

MrMark January 12th, 2009 04:32 PM

they ran in everything until 4.06?

ddouglass January 12th, 2009 05:59 PM

Mark what he is referring to is you have a copy of Version 3.4 installed along with 4.06. Look in C:\Program Files\Micro Technology Unlimited\Hoster for a file called Hoster34.exe. Double click on it, load some MP3s and see if they play.
If they do then go back into Hoster 4.06 and open Tools/Options and change to the "Old" player. Then try your MP3s again. (Thanks Jim for triggering my memory)

Sorry I dont, I htink its i tne computer I downlaoded a demo version and they played fine

ddouglass January 12th, 2009 08:24 PM

Any computer you installed Hoster 4.06 (not Demo) will have the 3.4 version included. If you are trying this with the 4.06 Demo what previous version of Hoster did you have on it?

MrMark January 12th, 2009 08:29 PM

Im sorry, I downloaded a demo on an extra computer and the mp3 worked fine. I have 4.06 on my karaoke computer always did the updateds on new versions. You mentioned "Any computer you installed Hoster 4.06 (not Demo) will have the 3.4 version included" Please explain Im not familar
Thanks Mark

p.s.

Early I asked about songverter and you I htink suggested I take my zip files and convert them to mp3-g when I do this do I just add them to my folder on my hard drive that hoster uses to play them and rebuild databases? These new mp3-gs have book id? Or shall I put them in a seperste folder and add the folder and then rebuild?

That means on your Karaoke computer in the location I listed earlier will be a program file named Hoster34.exe. Open it instead of the regular version 4.06 Hoster and try to play some of your MP3 files to see if they will play. From what you say above I am assuming that your karaoke computer is the one having the problem with the MP3 files since you say the Demo worked on the "extra" computer.

Once you have converted them with Songverter you will have to import them through the "Import from Hard Drive" in Hoster the same as you would have the zip files. This will change them to KMA files with the BookID added in and place them in your KMA folder as well as adding them to Hoster's database.
Songverter does not work directly in conjunction with Hoster so there is no way it could add a BookID to any file.

Hey Mark,
When you did your windows updates on your Karaoke computer, did you install any hardware upgrades for your sound card?
