Can't Rename Video Files
I have all my CD+G's loaded into my Hoster, and everything is working just dandy. Just like it's suppose to. So i saved loading my video VCD's till last. Why won't vista let me rename the files? I tried renaming one after i clicked it up using the video button on hoster...wow that was a no no. And...do you delete these the same way you delete a CDG? George

George are you talking about using the Video button on the main screen? This is a temporary load and once you have played it it is no longer in Hoster. Hoster 4.10 (when release) will be able to import them so they become part of the database.
Vista may be blocking you access to those files or if you are trying to rename the file after you have added it to the playlist it will deny you access. Try turning the UAC off. That should allow you access so you can rename them. Be sure you are logged in as administrator also. |

I rename and delete stuff through the video tab in vista fairly often and have never had a problem Sam |
I have it figured out now sam. What i did was when i went to rename the file, i inadvertenly erased the ".dat" at the end of the line. It was no longer a ".dat" file at that point. Simple enough mistake to make i guess. Got them downloading with no trouble now.

Nope...i have them imported to my external F Drive:) |
But they don't have BookIDs and are not in your database, so when ever you use them in Hoster they are copied to a temporary file and the that is deleted after it plays. The original file would never be deleted. That is what I meant. So you don't have to delete them from Hoster...yet. Once videos are importable (added to the database) in 4.10 then if you want to delete them you would use the Edit just like you would for CDGs.
And as Sam said, been there and done that on the renaming. Unfortunately XP only warns you but will let you let you change/delete the extension unlike Vista. |
ok....Got you covered Dale. And thank you ever so much for all your help. And Sam, thank you for the e~mail you sent me to get me started on the right track. I think this forum is just the cats meow. George:)
