Audio Breaks

I have recently started playing music between singers.....guess I am a slow learner. I was hoping some of you old timers might recommend a song or two that is catchy and motivational that you play to minimize the dead air time between singers. Thanks.......Oh yes, Happy New Year to everyone!!!!

It's all depends on the age of your crowd:r One song I use a lot is an Instrumental from the 50s/60s era called "Green Onions". It frequently generates a discussion on "Name that Tune" and gets people talking to each other:w:g.

Oldies that cross generation gaps

Old Time Rock N Roll - Bob Seger
Pink Cadillac - Bruce Springsteen
Keep Your Hands To Yourself - Georgia Sattelites
Johnny B Goode - Chuck Berry
Mony Mony - Tommy James
Oh Pretty Woman - Roy Orbinson

Warning this may get dancers on your floor.

Newer Stuff Group Dancing

Low aka Apple Bottom Jeans aka Boots with Fur - T Pain
Cupid Shuffle - Cupid
Cha Cha Slide - by DJ Casper many variations try to get one that is around 6:30 minutes long best version

In The Ayer - Flo Rida

This is a partial list I use for DJ Dance Breaks between Karaoke rounds.

Skybird and Swany, thanks for the reply, look like good choices!!

I don't necessarily use any particular songs, I run my dj program in the background with all my dj music on a random shuffle & on auto mix so it plays a little of everything. Just something to keep underlying announcements & calling the next singer up.

Thanks Lohman, I use a jukebox program for this and I'm still figuring out how I can switch without dead air time.

If you have a separate sound card, some dj programs let you point to one sound card or the other, run Hoster on one & the dj jukebox on the other then send both cards to the mixer - fade up the jukebox as the Hoster is getting over with it's song.

I'll try that, thanks!

These particular songs are sung by Karaoke Singers. I pick instrumentals so they can easily be stopped when the next Singer reaches the stage & their song is cued up.

I'd say use any song ya like just keep in mind you don't play anything people are going to start singing and then you go and turn or fade it out. LOL They don't like that LOL

I use classic rock for the transition music between singers.

Why classic rock? Because in my neck of the woods it's the only genre that everybody likes and nobody hates.

I've had a few singers try new songs after hearing a snippet of something during a transition.
