Microstudio stopped playing CDG discs

Suddenly, Microstudio stopped playing any CDG discs. The discs play perfectly in karaoke machines and other software players. In Microstudio the song tracks are displayed but when I try to play them the graphics window appears and then instantly disappears and there's no audio.

What version?
What operating system?
Is this a new or updated install or did it just stop showing them?
What did you install/change just before it happened?
Is you computer up to date with the Custom (not Auto or Express) Updates from Microsoft?

Microstudio 4.006
Windows XP Pro SP2
Current version of Microstudio has been installed for months.
Can't think of anything that changed just before the problem started.
Have not installed any Microsoft updates recently.

Karaoke files play fine.

go to tools, and click on default drives, see if it shows read/yes, write yes, i had that problem at one time, try updating your drives firmware/driver if that doesn't work , that means ms stopped supporting your cd/dvd drives. i ended up using an ext. cd/dvd burner

I have two drives listed.
PLEXTOR CD-R PX-W5224A
SONY DVD RW DRU-840A
Both are shown to read and write karaoke and neither can be used to play a disc with Microstudio. I can create discs that will play in karaoke machines, and with other software, without a problem.

back to your post #5 how are you creating a disc, when you import a disc on ms is the progress bar moving or just blinks..if it just blinks your drivers are not ms supported anymore.i have 3 ext. cd/dvd burners . all 3 of them works, progress bar actually runs, and my int. will just blink but when i import a disc, but it will actually says imported.. used to work but when i upgraded to a version prior to 4.06 my int. drive will read but its unable to write..when you click play the screen just goes blank..

I combined you two post above so we can look at the whole picture.
Do you have Auto Updates set up to run or are you not doing those either?
I would highly recommend you do the Custom Updates and get your computer up-to-date especially SP3.
Is this a recent development (not playing disks) or has it been happening for a while?
If you can remember when it started then you should be able to Restore your computer back to a date just before that and that may fix it. Then do your Microsoft updates.
Are you getting any kind of error message or indication when it doesn't play the disk files?

Problem solved, though I still don't know what caused it. I uninstalled Microstudio, rebooted, reinstalled and rebooted again. Plays discs with no a problem now.

Thank you to those who responded.

Glad you got it. Usually it isn't that simple which is why we were all digging for information.:s It may have been an update that changed something Microstudio didn't like and by re-installing MS reset whatever it was.

i may have to the same:):)
