Song book ,Word Question

Does any one know how to make the artist name appear at the top of every column & page when using Microsoft Word or Works? I know I can add it manually but is there a way to make the word processing program do this for us.
Just as an example , my "Presley, Elvis" pages expand over 6 columns or 3 pages. But the artist selected feature only prints the artist name on the first page.

Hey Roy,
You might want to post this in the Hoster "New Features" section of forum. If there was a way to do it with the Hoster Songbook, I'm sure you would have figured it out. :w I don't know of any other way right now than to do it manually, maybe somebody else does. :t :r :)

It would make the Elvis Presley section of our books make more sense, so to speak. :c

Good Request!

There isn't any way in Word to automatically do this, but in Hoster you can set it to only include the Artist name with the first song then all other songs under there that are by the same artist do not show the name.
There is a check box to do this in the top line of the Songbook window.

Thanks for your reply Dale. Yes I know about the Hoster settings. Just that it would look better if it started a fresh page with that singers name again.

Jim, I will see if any solutions come up in this thread before I request it in "New features". I think Admin have enough to to get on with at the moment on version 4.10 :r:g

I wondered if there was someway to insert a macro in word to do this?

You could do this with a macro that calls a Procedure but I have no knowledge of how to work with Word & VBA. I work with Access to do all my songbooks and format anyway I wish.

If you are seroius about trying to get this done, I would sign in to Microsoft newsgoup community and ask the questions of the gurus. I'm sure someone would help you get this done. They'll even write the code for you, it's probably just a few lines of code anyway.

This is the link....

http://www.microsoft.com/communities.../default.aspx?

Create an account name and password - it's free

Click language of your choice, English I'm sure
Click Office and Desktop Applications
Click Word
Then I would click Word programming and then create new post and explain in as much detail as you possibly can what you are trying to do and then just wait for responses.

Hope this helps!
