Poor Quality Sound-Using Headphone Jack For Speaker Hook-up

I have a Ruggedized Laptop™ Computer With Video Hoster® Software and need advice on how to configure it so that I am outputing sound properly--I am currently using the "headphone" outlet to project sound through my two EV SX100+ speakers via a mixer.( (Sound is VERY limited). There must be a better way!

Thanks,
GB

Make sure you update your audio drivers, and check your speaker settings,
front speakers, back speakers, suround, ect.
or you can get a pcmia card, indingo is the best. about $150.00.
stay away from soundblaster card. Bob

Thanks For Response!

bobcox--This is my first time participating in MTU Forum. What is the "Test Machine" information included in your response?

Thanks Again,
GB

That is info for MTU, I am a beta tester.
also change your wire going from laptop to mixer. if it is bad or to many conections, it will give you bad sound.:e

I must respectfully disagree with you. I am using a Soublaster Audigy Card and EAW speakers. It sounds amazing. People come in and give me compliments often for having the best sounding show they have ever been to.

I used a laptop this summer for an outdoor show & the headphone jack also sounded bad. I bought a Lexicon Alpha USB audio interface & the sound was KILLER after that! $80

what kind of a mixing board do you have?, i have used a powered ev sx100 before and i didnt have any problems with the sound quality, they're great speakers/monitors..and like you i have it hooked-up to my laptops headphone..i dont use an ext. soundcard anymore, i used to use soundblaster extigy, and i had problems with it, getting too much hizz,
ever since i discarded the ext. soundcard, i havent had any sound problems..
