I am able to play vob files using the VIDEO button in hoster but am not getting any sound... is there something I am doing wrong or a setting that I missed? Avi's play fine and I get sound. Thank you in advance!!

Are your .vob files from DVDs? Since .vob is not one of the listed file types in the Manual, you may have to convert to another format, such as .avi, mpg or wmv, in order for Hoster to play them.

Skybird is right. I had problems with .vob files, I can't remember what the problem was but I convert mine to .dat files which is a video format. If you need a program to convert video you can download "Xilsoft" for free. There is a limitation on the demo of 5 minuets per file to convert to many formats. As music files are generally shorter than 5 min. it works all right, of course if you are happy with the program you can purchase a license. The web site Page is http://www.xilisoft.com/video-converter.html I downloaded the standard version.

Vob files are a container for mpeg-2 video files and an audio stream,if you don't have the appropriate codec installed in the computer somewhere, then the vob's won't play. Most of us Vj's are trying to get away from vobs because of the problems you are having, (and their large size) and instead convert to a more useable format such mpeg-2 or even avi. Sometimes you can try changing the vob ext to mpg so the player will recognize it as such and play. When the player sees .vob, it may not know or have the functionality to do anything. Converting is easier and unless you really need very high dvd quality for your videos, than try converting.
