I :whave dicided to start from scratch with many of my tracks being installed from damaged discs and would like to know how i remove book id so that i can start from number 1, i would prefer to retain the original book id untill i have finished rebuilding because i have to work in the meantime, also when originally puchasing hoster some 5 years ago i had my own ideas on book id and disc titles etc so it would be nice to clean down and lay everthing fresh now that i have purchased new replacement discs second hand but original

If you want to keep the same book id etc just re import the discs on the hard drive that you use. You don't have to do anything else.

book id

no some of my single tracks are imported on an book id (such a waste) and a large number of discs were damaged when installed, i also have personal names given to disc id which means when re-importing the disk it would have a different book id. so on the whole i want a clean start but holding the original system to carry on working in the meantime

Delete the original files/discs through explorer, rebuild your database - this will clear all bookid;s that you want to clear up, then reimport the discs you want to reimport!

Hugh, start you a new folder to hold the song files after you import them. Go to the Rebuild database then delete the current folder and add the new folder. Then rebuild. This will give you a clean slate with no bookids imported and you can start importing.
When you need to do a show then go back in and rebuild the database with the current folder removing the new one. Essentially you can have several different setups. It just requires you take the time necessary to rebuild the database everytime you need to change.
