4.05 Lyrics

:?Hey gang, thought I had problems worked out but last night some lyrics were off and was very embarassing. I have read all the posts (I think) and went to the Windows update site and it said I needed Net Framework 1.1 so I downloaded it. Didn't look to see what was currently installed (duhhh). After looking in "add or remove programs" I see the 1.1 that I downloaded and also a net framework 2.0 service pack 1. I have XP. Can someone tell me which version of framework I should have and will the correct one fix this problem. Also, please direct me to a site where I can download the correct version of framework if I need one. Thanks

As far as I can determine Steve, the various versions of this do not over-write the previous version. I can only guess that what they have done with this is created new additions in the succeeding versions rather than a full replacement. MS what can you say:r:w
I have everyone of the versions from 1.0 all the way up to 3.0 installed and all show in the Add/Remove Programs.
It appears from what you are saying is that your 1.1 version isn't installed right for some reason, so I would go ahead and install it and I would also get 3.0. I am not using 3.5 (latest) yet as there seemed to be some doubt about it working right with Hoster and I haven't confirmed it yey with mine.

Dale,

I downoaded the 1.1 from the Windows Update site. Are you running 3.0 without problems? If I download 3.0, should I remove all previous versions? Is there a possibility that they could conflict?

No they don't conflict. That was what I was saying. I have all three versions installed.

Dale, Do you think 3.0 (w/XP) is the way to go?

I have it and I don't have any problems with it.

One other thing I recently noticed, it seems when I am only using my LT screen, the lyrics are in sync. When I hook up the second monitor it seems (and I need to test more) I have these problems. The other night at a show, I had an intermittent popup in the tray about an internet connection and when this was up, my lyrics seemed to be out of snyc. I read in someone's earlier post that 2 monitors was a load on a video card (I have an nvidia on the machine in question) and to set your graphics to 16 bit instead of 32. I have done this but have yet to test it. Now I have installed net framework 3.0, downloaded a graphic card updated driver, and reset resolution.......If it works I may never know which it was!! By the way, I can't tell any difference in the 16 bit.

There is only 3 people in the country who could, and they work for the paint manufacturers.:)

Make sure to let us know if this fixed your sync issue. It would be valuable to others who read this thread later.

:) I had an out of sync issue once and it was when I had forgotten to stop some services before starting my show. I run XP on a Toshiba laptop with 2 GB of ram.

Before each show I disable my wireless connection and exit all open programs including anti virus. I then go to Control Panel and Open Administrative Tools and then Services. I stop all services that are not needed for the show. This includes Automatic Updates, Anti Virus services, Microsoft Defender, etc.. This should not cause you any issues as the services will restart when you reboot your machine. Enabling and disabling the network connection is a manual thing but quite simple to do.

Pretty much anything that could pop up or start trying to access something when your in the middle of a show. Since you only need to run hoster, there is no need for an internet connection or any of the services listed. Since I started doing this I have ran several 7 to 8 hour shows with absolutely no problems. I have Hoster 4.05 running on the above mentioned Windows XP machine.

Just curious, are you running wmp 9 or wmp 11?

hwheeler43 October 20th, 2008 01:18 PM

WMP 11. I have read on here about problems, but (Knock on wood) I have not had any with it.

When I was running wmp 11 and XP on my hp laptop, I had to make sure all unneeded programs were shut down ( virus, network, etc..) and still had problems.

I rolled back to wmp 9 and now I don't shut anything down and have my dj program (BPM Studio) open at the same time. It is my understanding that wmp 9 and 10 are basically the same, but WMP 11 is structured differently and designed to run on Vista so it may not functon correctly on some xp machines. If its working for you now, don't change it. I'm a true believer in the "If it ain't broke don't fix it" philosophy.

Steve Bauer October 20th, 2008 02:04 PM

I have wmp 9. I guess I failed to stop all services.......anti virus, jukebox, Limewire, internet connection etc. It takes a while to learn what all is involved in this software/computer interface. Thanks guys for smartenin' me up!

hwheeler43 October 20th, 2008 03:56 PM

I just hope it helps. And I agree with Laddie on the if it aint broke dońt fix it principle. One thing that used to be in the manual is to turn off system restore. I have it off on my laptop, however I am not sure if that would be an issue or not.:r
