Can't Remove Singer for DB

I had a strange thing happen last night, well not strange but unexpected. I decided to delete a couple of singer names from the singers DB. I selected the name, hit delete, it warned me that I was going to delete the name, I hit OK and it said it was deleted. But the name was still there.
So I deleted that one song that was listed under the singer, repeated the above, same results. I then tried to delete my name from the Db, same results. I have 30 or more singers in the db, and most have at least 5 or more songs, a few have 15 to 20...This happened on my laptop running XP and Hoster 4.05.
When I got home I tried it on my desk top ( XP and 4.05). This Db only had three names on it and the delete worked fine. So I populated the Db with names and songs. I'm not sure what the magic combination was, but after about 20 names, I could no longer delete from this DB. Has anyone else with a large singers DB had this Problem. :?

I haven't seen this one. I have seen it not show that it was deleted until Hoster was closed and re-opened.

Hey Laddie,
I'm not to the point where I'm deleting singers from my singer database yet but I can run some tests next week.

Admin gave me this suggestion concerning the excessive refeshing of the singer database:

"this is caused by the "ipoint.exe" program associated with Microsoft mice. Use Task Manager to see the Processes and shut it down. The refreshing should stop."

If this fixes the problem, we will have to shut down ipoint.exe everytime we start our machine, at this point in time. I will try it at tomorrows gig, got tonight off - YEA! :c Got to get to Atalnta, have a great weekend.

(You can use Access to edit with the singers.mdb. :r)

Jim missed Admin's second part to this. If it is the culprit, then look in your Startup forlder and delete it from there. It won't effect your mouse's operation and just is a quick start for their set-up program.

Thanks Joe, thats what I did to get rid of the unwanted name. I also made a short song db on my desk top and tried deleting some names from it. They did delete, but after restarting hoster they were still there. :?

Do you have Logitech Setpoint instead? I haven't had any problems with it, but that doesn't mean it couldn't be causing yours. Basically it is the same type of mouse control program.

I looked for setpoint as well, neither setpoint or ipoint are TSRs. A search of my machine did not find either .exe.

My desktop runs setpoint, but since I don't use it for shows it doesn't bother me.

What kind of mouse do you use on your show computer?

I am running a ms usb wireless mouse on my laptop. The program I found was apoint.exe. I removed it from my TSRs and have prevented it from starting. But it made no difference with respect to the DB redrawing.

Ok Laddie, we will report this to MTU. I think they were looking a little futher into this, but if we tell them their immediate fix isn't working then they will have to figure out a way to speed it up.
