Do Not Upgrade To .Net Framework 3.5 - 9/30/08

With the help of James W. Murray we dicovered that Hoster 4.05 does not run correctly under .Net Framework 3.5. You can read the post here:

http://forum.mtu.com/showthread.php?t=10819

Anybody is welcome to test my findings but the change in the way Hoster 4.05 ran was too obvious. :r :w The first HDCDG played in slot one of the playlist ran out of sync. I have never seen this with an HDCDG before tonight.

Thanks Again James, we squashed some gremlins with this find. :c

Hey Billy,
I did not get .Net Framework 3.5 did through windows updates so you may be safe. Go to Control Panel> Add/Remove Programs and see what your latest version is.

If you have 3.5, do a system retore to get back to good.

I don't understand why SP3 doesn't like your system. I hope SP2 works for you. If not, you may have to do some additional research on this.

Billy,
We didn't know .Net Framework 3.5 caused problems with Hoster 4.05 and XP until I installed it on test machine #1. Gave me a grief like I've never seen.

This problem happens in Vista (James) and in XP (Me).

Jim, do you have a link to the 3.5? If so send to me via private message. Don't want to post it out here.

Jim,
You will have less problems getting rid of 3.5 if you just uninstall it using the control panel and then reloading 3.0.

Hey Laddie,
You would think! I unistalled Net Framework 3.5 using add/remove programs and Hoster 4.05 kept crashing. Anything I did past this point using add/remove program gave me the same resutls, Hoster 4 kept crashing. By the way I have never seen all of this crashing before, ever. Once I did a system restore back to the original install of net framework 3, Hoster 4.05 went back to running correctly. The crashing stopped.

There may be a file that net framework 3.5 changes that does get get changed back with an uninstall using add/remove programs.

Thanks

Is it possible that there was something else installed around that same time, either from microsoft or from somewhere else, any minor update to any program even?

Nearly every time i do a complete microsoft update, some program gets affected on here and fails to work. My worst case is "blue screen of death" caused by a microsoft security update, which was linked to a camera program that installed a driver on its own. Removing the driver didn't help, and for some reason at that time, system restore didn't work properly; the camera software offered a patch that they admitted would fix this problem. It was one in a million how I found out about it, or I'd still be figuring it out.
