Just Downloaded 4.05 Vista Users Beware!!!

I just downloaded and installed 4.05 and cannot believe the same problems with the preview display being cut off and lyrics being out of sync are still present.

The lyrics are running better then they were in 4.04 but are still playing catch up especially with fast songs.

i tested this with the song "Boogie woogie Bugle Boy Sound choice

In 4.03 it is in perfect sync but in 4.04 it was way off and still in 4.05 the lyrics are playing catch up to the music

Another problem that has arisen is during install an error message popped up
saying error 1706 cannot find hoster source and when i clicked on okay the restart window popped up and I let it restart the computer

Hoster opened fine but the display window was cut off just like in 4.04 and the lyrics still out of sync!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I then re-installed Hoster and still got the same error message and on clicking ok the install restart window came up and I let it restart and opened Hoster to the same problems

Needless to say i had Hoster 4.05 installed less then 15 minutes and have already uninstalled it and re-installed 4.03

This is just unbelieveable and unexceptable:m:m:m:m:m:m

James, I have to take the hit on this one. I'm sorry I told you this was going to be fixed in 4.05. :s :s :s From what admin says about the preview display being cut off in vista, this may be a while. At least your singers don't see it on the TV.

James, this sounds like a video card driver issue to me. Do you have the latest vista drivers for your sound card?

To not see the 1706 error on istall (it's harmless) uninstall your present version before you install the new one.

You did the right thing here.

James,
I'm sorry to hear that 4.05 did not work for you, thank you for posting your findings.

I don't recall hearing a report like this from any vista beta testers so I have to ask, do you have:

All custom windows updates?

Do you have .Netframework 3?

Windows Medoa Player 11? Some say it's not needed but it works well for me.

Do you have Internet Explorer 7?

Again, do you have the latest vista driver for your video card?

I know you are not new at this and I don't mean to offend. I want to post this information to help all.

I'm sorry I can't do more. :f

Very Disappointed with Lyrics Out Of Sync Still

Hey madjim
to answer your questions
I have all updates installed including all drivers for my toshiba x205 sli2 which has 2 video cards with 512 dedicated and 4gb memory and 2 seperate processors

As I posted before the lyrics are in perfect sync with 4.03 which i believe is because the preview window is not as detailed as it is in 4.04 or 4.05

I believe this is what is causing the drag in the lyrics being in sync in vista

It would be nice if mtu would offer a patch for the key changer in 4.03 till they get the vista problems solved since 4.03 seems to run the best with vista so far

MTU will have to make this decision. I think I snuck the .netframework 3 question in while you were postng. You have this too right?

Why are you running two video cards? I've never heard of this. It must work for you because 4.03 works. I'm just curious.

.net framework

yes my computer actually has .net framework 3.5

my toshiba Nvidia driver uses a technology called sli for its gaming computers

when the sli is enabled your computer goes from dual display to single display and both video cards are used for excelerated Direct 3D and open GL graphics and processing speed

James, I have this same machine that I am currently playing around with. I don't see these problems on my machine. Can you post your settings in video and audio so I can try and re-create what is going on. Also, what programs do you have installed and or running. I will try my best to clone my machine to match yours and see if we can't find a solution for you.

Interesting, I'm not a gamer so I was clueless.

Thanks

I can't recall any of our beta tester reporting this either. Any preview screen related issues were fixed to the vista beta testers satisfaction, and they are a picky bunch. :r Thanks for the assist Mark. :c

I'l get .netframework 3.5, thanks. Did you try running it with the SLI disabled?

Just a thought.

.Net Framework 3.5 Causes Lyrics To Go Out Of Sync In 4.05 - Don't Use It

I just downloaded .Net Framework 3.5 and installed it on Test Machine #1.

The first CDCDG I played in 4.05, the lyrics were our of sync.

My testing confirms that Hoster 4.05 (and 4.04 I bet) will not run correctly under .Net Framework 3.5.

James, go back to .Net Famework 3 and see if it clears up your problem. That's what I'm going to do right now. :e :r :c :g I know it will work for me. :w

I'm not seeing any of the out of sync lyrics this time around on 4.05 even with the SC version of Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy. Dead on lyrics swipes in both the preview & singers screen, no preview screen cutoff - now granted I only have 1 display to test with - no dual display, but on my end it's working fine.:?

Do Not Upgrade To .Net Framework 3.5

I uninstalled .Net Framework 3.5

Since the uninstall did not require me to restart windows (I know I have to restart in order to reload .Net Framework 3.0 correctly :w), I went ahead and opened Hoster 4.05 just to see what would happen. Sure enough right as the logo video was finishing the program crashed. Hoster 4.05 does not like .Net Framework 3.5.

I restarted my computer and Hoster 4.05 ran like the program it is, solid as a rock. :c

Conclusion: Do not upgrade to .Net Framework 3.5.

Thanks again for your help finding this James. :g :g :c :c

Follow Up

James,
.Net Framework 3.5 did not want to go quietly. After using Add/Remove Programs to remove .Net Framework 3.5 I still had porblems with Hoster 4.05 crashing time and time again. I have never seen Hoster 4.X act so strange. :? I had to do a system retore back a few points to get things in working order.

Just trying to save you some grief. :w

If anybody has to do a system restore, be sure to save a copy of your singers.mdb database file on a jump drive. If you've added files to your songs databses, copy the songs.mdb, songs_backup.mdb and the bucket.mdb. :w These file gets changed in the restore, I found out the hard way. :e :r :c
